Understanding Anabolic Steroids: Usage, Effects, and Risks in Sports
Anabolic steroids are synthetic hormones, primarily derived from testosterone, known for their muscle-building effects. These compounds not only increase muscle mass and strength but also enhance appetite and bone growth. Popular in various sports, including wrestling, football, and cycling, anabolic steroids, along with Human Growth Hormones and EPO, are often misused for performance enhancement. However, they carry serious side effects such as kidney and liver damage, heart issues, and psychological effects like "Roid Rage." Understanding the implications is crucial for athletes.
