  1. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory Enhanced Company Operations Limited Objective Experiment – 3.3 Experiment Overview Maj Mark Gilday Experiment OIC, MCWL 12 June 09

  2. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory Enhanced Company Operations Limited Objective Experiment – 3.3 Mission Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory will experiment with unmanned resupply/CASEVAC technologies to assess their enabling capacity to GCE conduct of Enhanced Company Operations, and associated DOTMLPF impacts to both the LCE and ACE. Method As an embedded component of CLR-4’s GS-CLC, MCWL will provide complementary experimental logistics support to India Co, 3/23 * Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Personnel, Facilities

  3. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory Enhanced Company Operations Limited Objective Experiment – 3.3 Objectives 2. Assess the Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP) associated with the employment of logistics-related innovations in an immature theatre against an irregular threat. TTPs Involving: • Unmanned delivery systems • Unmanned CASEVAC systems • Tailored packaging schemes 1.Evaluate the impact of experimental logistics enhancements on the ability of an ECO unit, and it’s supporting elements, to operate in an immature theatre against and irregular force. Specifically: • Use of unmanned systems to conduct CASEVAC • Use of unmanned systems to conduct resupply to company and below and recover reusable material that requires processing by the logistics support organization • Tailored packaging

  4. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory Enhanced Company Operations Limited Objective Experiment – 3.3 Task/Purpose • Task 1: Performed tailored packaging operations • Purpose 1: Determine if tailored packaging reduces the logistics/weight burden on the supported force (GCE) • Purpose 2: Determine operational effectiveness/suitability of tailored packaging • Purpose 3: Determine LCE manning, training, and equipping impacts associated with tailored packaging • Task 2: Perform unmanned aerial resupply/CASEVAC • Purpose 1: Determine operational effectiveness/suitability of conducting unmanned aerial resupply/CASEVAC • Purpose 2: Determine MAGTF manning, training, and equipping impacts associated with unmanned aerial resupply/CASEVAC • Purpose 3: Evaluate/establish tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) associated with unmanned aerial resupply/CASEVAC • Purpose 4: Determine C2 requirements needed IOT perform unmanned aerial resupply/CASEVAC • Task 3: Perform unmanned ground resupply • Purpose 1: Determine operational effectiveness/suitability of conducting unmanned ground resupply • Purpose 2: Determine MAGTF manning, training, and equipping impacts associated with unmanned ground resupply/ • Purpose 3: Evaluate/establish tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) associated with unmanned ground resupply • Purpose 4: Determine C2 requirements needed IOT perform unmanned ground resupply

  5. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory Enhanced Company Operations Limited Objective Experiment – 3.3 Task/Purpose – Cont’d • Task 4: Perform unmanned ground CASEVAC • Purpose 1: Determine operational effectiveness/suitability of conducting unmanned ground CASEVAC • Purpose 2: Determine MAGTF manning, training, and equipping impacts associated with unmanned ground resupply/ • Purpose 3: Evaluate/establish tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) associated with unmanned ground resupply • Purpose 4: Determine C2 requirements needed IOT perform unmanned ground resupply • Task 5: Conduct infantry unmanned mechanized support operations • Purpose 1: Determine operational effectiveness/suitability of utilizing an unmanned ground vehicle in direct support of Enhanced Company Operations • Purpose 2: Establish TTPs for use of unmanned ground vehicle in direct support of Enhanced Company Operations

  6. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory Enhanced Company Operations Limited Objective Experiment – 3.3 Experiment Goal (Juice vs Squeeze) • Identify all functions associated with experimental technologies • Identify who performs these functions • Is additional training req’d? • Is additional manpower req’d? • Are organizational structure changes req’d? • Are doctrinal changes req’d? • IS THE BENEFIT WORTH THE EFFORT?
