Key Updates - Structural • Cessation of government support forces structural changes • SingAREN institutionalised as non-profit society in September 2003 • Inaugural General Meeting in Nov 2003 with election of new Executive Committee • Assoc. Prof. Francis Lee is new President
Key Updates - Network • Community Internet aggregation model has been operationalised • National Grid Pilot Platform (NGPP) – Phase 1 established in Nov 2003 based on 1GE backbone • Planning for next phase of aggregation model will start shortly • Planning for NGPP-Phase 2 started
Key Updates - International • 155Mbps IPLC to Seattle with about 20% bandwidth reserved for I2 traffic • 8 Mbps SG-KR link renewed till Dec 2004 • Continuity subject to end-user co-funding • SG-TW link planned to be up in Feb 2004
Key Updates - Others • SingAREN Secretariat being formalized • SingAREN Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in process of formation: • VoIP • e-Science • Life Sciences • National Grid Office set up as secretariat to coordinate grid initiatives and activities started
