  2. LIFE CYCLE • In spring there are frog eggs in pounds. Frog spawn has 100s eggs clumped together. Male grass frogs guard their eggs. The eggs are in a nest that is hard foam on the outside and wet inside. The egg is a ball that is clear jelly. It has a dark center.

  3. GROWING • Tadpoles grow inside the eggs. They are tiny. At first they are a speck and after a few days they grow heads and tail. When they are bigger they wiggle out. Then the tadpoles eat their jelly and swim away.

  4. TADPOLES • Tadpoles use their gills to help breathe under water. • In a few more weeks their tails shrink and shrink.

  5. GETTING BIGGER • Tadpoles eat and grow that’s its main job. They get a little bigger every day. Soon their two front legs grow. They have gills to breathe under water. After a few weeks the tadpoles have two hind legs to move its body. After they grow lungs they swim up and put their head out of the water so they can breaths air. Frogs have strong legs and webbed feet to help it swim.

  6. TADPOLE DIET • As it grows lungs grow and the gills shrink. Tadpoles have hard mouth and scrape soft plants of off rock and pebbles. • Tadpole starts to eat small bugs. The tadpole changed into a small frog then it leaves the pond.

  7. FROGDIET • Frogs have a sticky tongue. It helps them catch flies. They don't chew. They swallow everything whole. Little frogs can catches big bugs with their wide mouth.

  8. LIFE SPAN • Many frogs live for only 2 or 3 years. Tree frogs can live 27 years. In the wild they live 5 to 10 years. Bull frogs live 20 years. Toads live 36 years. Toads live longer frogs

  9. DANGER • Many tadpoles gets eaten by hungry bugs, fishes, or turtles. A few of them escape. To protect themselves they blend in with others.

  10. Protection • Frogs hide under water or leap away from danger. Some frogs make poison to protect themselves. Some will make themselves look scary. They might have fake eyes or puff up to look big. Frogs makes a boil smell.

  11. SIZE • There are many kinds of frogs. • The biggest size frog is the Goliath frog. It lives in Africa. It is 30 cm. Canada's biggest frog is the bull frog. It is 15 cm. The smallest frog is the Brazilian gold frog it lives in Borneo. They are a size of a pea. It is 1 cm.

  12. LITTLE LEAF FROG • The little leaf frog has a pointed snout and looks like a green leaf.

  13. BURROWS • Frogs live in different places. • Some frogs live in burrows under the ground. • They do it to be safe from their enemies. Some frogs dig with their snout.

  14. MOLE FROG • The mole frog lives in sandy places. It has a rounded snout and tiny eyes. It has a small head and looks like a mole. The mole frogs digs like a mole.

  15. TREES • Some frogs live in trees; they have sticky pads on their feed for climbing. Tree frogs have big eyes. Their eyes help them find food and see danger.
