International Institute for Population Sciences was established in 1956 by the Govt. of India. The University was declared as a Deemed university on Aug19, 1985 under section 3 of the UGC Act, by MHRD, GOL. It is one of the best higher learning Institute in India.<br>IIPS runs seven Academic departments and offers Postgraduate, Doctoral and Post-Doctoral courses and fellowships. The courses offered are M.A., MSc. M.Phil., Ph.D., and Post-doctoral fellowship.   3. ABOUT UNIVERSITY IIPS embarked upon the journey of academic excellence in July, 1956. Also, the institute was initially known as Demographic Training and Research Centre (DTRC) i.e. till 1970. From 1970-1985, it was known as the International Institute for Population Studies. From 1985, it was called the International Institute for Population Sciences. Furthermore, the university was declared as a deemed university on August 19, 1985 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, by MHRD, GoI. Also, it serves as a regional institute for training and research in population studies for the ESCAP region. Consequently, the institute can award recognised degrees. Additionally, with the combined efforts of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, the Government of India and United Nations it has established itself as a premier institute in the Asia and Pacific region. • • • • • • •

  7. INFRASTRUCTURE Library at International Institute for Population Sciences The main objective of the IIPS’s library is to support the research and educational activities. Hence, the library has a vast collection of 85456 books, 17266 bound volumes of periodicals, 16979 reprints, 26943 Indexed articles, 1457 Seminar Papers, 243 Ph.D. Theses, 325 Journals Subscribed (Printed), 4300 Journals Subscribed (Online). INFRASTRUCTURE Hostel • The Institute provides the hostel facilities for both boys and girls separately. • Also, the Institute has two hostel buildings, a six-storied and a three-storied, for accommodating students admitted to various courses. • Infact, all full-time students required to stay in the hostel. • Furthermore, hostel rooms furnished and have adequate living and working space. • In addition to that, each room has a bathroom and toilet attached to it. • Besides a common kitchen, two kitchenettes are also provided in the hostel. They equipped with Deep Freezer, Fridge, and electric ovens. • Moreover, the hostel has facilities for games, table tennis, carom, and chess. • Facilities for some outdoor games and gymnasium are also available in the campus.

INFRASTRUCTURE Medical Facilities at International Institute for Population Sciences • In the first place, recommended for an educational institution to provide excellent health services to its students. • Therefore, the institute provides general health care services to all its students and staff. • Consequently, two honorary medical doctors appointed at the Institute for medical advice. • These doctors visit the Institute on all working days and attend to individuals requiring medical attention. • Additionally, the Gender Amity Committee of the Institute has appointed a qualified counselor, who visits the Institute weekly and provides consultation services. Computer Lab at International Institute for Population Sciences • The university has well-equipped computer labs for the sake of practical education in computer applications. • Also, it is to say that they learn the latest trends and developments in the computer world.

  10. INFRASTRUCTURE Canteen This place is very comfortable for all the students to relax for a while and refresh themselves. In addition, the institute provides a clean and comfortable environment where the students can enjoy their food. Moreover, the canteen serves palatable and delicious recipes to the students and staff at moderate prices. Also, RO plant purified water systems installed in all the water coolers inside the campus. Apart from the above-mentioned facilities, IIPS also provides facilities namely, Sports Coaching, Gymkhana, Food and Catering Services among others. • • • • •
