Roundtable Overview • Formative Assessment ideas of all four language domains using the book “I Spy with My Little Eye”. • Introduction to three other children’s literature books with writing assessment ideas and student-made projects. • Introduction to two more books with gallery walk/group activities. • Receive take away literature and become a member of: www.wikispaces.com/esolbrown2013

  6. Formative Assessments

  7. Listening- Play “I Spy” in which one student is blindfolded and tries to guess what the other student is describing. Or, have one student retell things they heard in the bookor a classmates book.

  8. Speaking- Ask the student to retell what happened in the book, what happened in their classmates book, explain their own “I Spy” book, or to explain the actual process in which they made the book.

  9. Reading- Read the story aloud or have the student read their own personal “I Spy” book.

  10. Writing- Create an “I Spy with My Little Eye” book with other content related items. Examples: famous Americans, facts about Ancient Greece, etc.

  11. Writing Assessment: Create a class or individual “ABC” book with any content area topic/vocabulary.

  12. Writing : Create a “This Plus That” equation with a content area topic/vocabulary.

  13. Writing: Create a books using dot stickers. The text could serve as the formative assessment.

  14. Now it’s your turn!

  15. Gallery Walk Pick a place to start, collaborate, and brain dump all your ideas on the posters for each of the 4 domains. www.wikispaces.com/esolbrown2013
