8. Mathematics Opportunities Math Team
The Math Team practices once per week from September through February. There are five competitions during the season in which students earn individual points as well as team points. Students can earn an EHS varsity letter for their letter jacket.
AP Classes
AB Calculus, BC Calculus, Computer Science, and Statistics
Students assume a greater responsibility for independent learning and the workload is more than that of a regular class. College credit may be earned.
AMC
Students are invited to participate in the American Mathematical Competition in February by their teacher.
Students scoring over 100 on this exam are invited to participate in the AIME national exam.
9. Mathematics Opportunities Extra Help
Math teachers make themselves available during their contracted hours and many times outside their contracted hours to help students.
We also offer slower paced (3 semester) math courses in Advanced Algebra
Edina Math is also offered for those students needing targeted standards based instruction.

Requires all students to be college ready, as mandated by the new Common Core Standards in Language Arts
Facilitates transition to high school

This course builds on students’ prior work in 9th grade Physics or Enriched Physics and will prepare them for subsequent work in Biology or Enriched Biology
College-prep course
19. Enriched Chemistry This is a more rigorous Chemistry course
Consider enrolling in Enriched Chemistry if you are:
highly interested in science
self-motivated
self-disciplined
quite comfortable with math (concurrently in Advanced Algebra)
Recommended (but not required) for students interested in taking AP Chemistry later.

22. Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Project Lead the Way is a STEM-focused, Project-Based curriculum that is offered at 4,000+ schools across the country.
Students enrolled in Project Lead the Way classes at Edina High School have the opportunity to earn 3 college credits from the University of Minnesota for each PLTW course taken.
Last year, Edina had around 200 students earn college credit, which is around an 85% pass rate. The national average is about 30%.
Students do not necessarily need to be interested in pursuing engineering to take these classes!
If students have ANY interests in Design, Hands-On activities, or project-based instruction, these classes are for YOU!

Chronological study of major geographic regions—Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe from early civilizations to globalization in the 21st century
Emphasizes global perspective of world events
Students can expect a combination of lecture, simulations, debate, and discussion
AP European History
Europe and areas impacted by Europeans from 1450-present.
Shorter period of time than AP World and fewer places to cover.
Depth rather than breadth with the same rigor as the AP World history course.

9th grade credits count toward both the 42 credits needed towards graduation as well as college requirements.
At least 30 credits must be earned through Edina High School.
