  4. Secondary Program – French Immersion * Students must take at least one of the (*) French Immersion elective courses in the grade 10, 11 or 12 year but may take more Immersion electives if they choose.

Graduation Transitions 12 Students will be assigned a GT teacher concurrent with English 12 and are expected to demonstrate experience/learning in three areas: Community Connections – 30 hours of work/volunteer experience Healthy Living – DPA (150 min/week) Career & Life – Post Secondary Transition Plan Interview

Seeking (have no idea, too overwhelmed, too excited about everything) We can’t see very far into the future; only what is directly in front of us. Focus on that for now. Create an “Action Agenda” (create “steps”) Any time you try something new it opens up a door to another possibility

Basic University Entrance Requirements English 11, Math 11 Pre-Calculus or Foundations of Math 11 and/or 12, Socials 11, an academic Science 11 and Language 11 English 12 plus 3 “approved” academic 12-level courses (varies by institution and by program) Eastern universities sometimes require English 12 and 4 “approved” courses It is the student’s responsibility to check specific post-secondary institution requirements

SFU Requirements In addition to English 12: For Arts: Foundations of Math 11 or Pre-Calculus Math 11 at 60% or better plus 3 more gr. 12 approved academic courses For Sciences: Pre-Calculus Math 11 and 12; Physics 11, Chemistry 11, 2 gr. 12 Science courses For Business: Pre-Calculus Math 11 and 12, plus 2 gr. 12 approved courses Details and Information for other programs can be found on the SFU website

UBC Requirements In addition to English 12: A “Personal Profile” required for all applicants For Arts: Foundations of Math 11 and 12 or Pre-Calc 11; plus 3 more approved academic gr 12 courses For Sciences: Pre-Calculus Math 11 and 12; Physics 11; Chemistry 11; one gr. 12 Science; 1 more approved academic course For Business: Pre-Calculus Math 11 and 12, 2 approved gr. 12 courses **NEW: Only courses with a final mark as of Feb 1st of the grade 12 year will be considered for admission. Grade 11 marks will be used in some cases where a grade 12 mark is not yet available.

  23. Calculating Admission Averages The admission average is calculated using percentages from English 12 and the best 3 Grade 12 approved courses required for the program. Example: UBC Arts admission average 88%

Douglas College General Admission Programs (Programs such as General Studies, Business, Arts, Sciences) Graduation English 12 at 60% or better Limited-Enrollment Programs (programs such as Arts, Nursing, Dental Assisting, etc.) and University Transfer Must meet general and specific department admission requirements; often includes Math 11 Foundations with 60% SFU/Douglas College Partnership Program SFU Entrance requirements apply Specific programs only within the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Environment, Science Can take courses at both SFU and Douglas

Helpful Information General Post-Secondary/Career www.applybc.ca Riverside Honour Roll Criteria Students must be enrolled in 8 Riverside courses (not including GT) a minimum of 4 courses within the timetable (Periods 1-5) in each semester to qualify for honour roll Full-time Student Course Load In grade 12, students should take 8 courses plus GT. In special circumstances, with permission students may elect to take 7 courses plus GT (90 credit minimum required)

Graduation Program Exam Scholarships To qualify for $1000 for post-secondary tuition: *Must have a 73% or better blended mark on Eng 12, Com 12 or FRIM 12 *Must write and pass one exam in each of the 5 exam categories *Must have a final course mark for the exam to be counted *Must rank in the top 5000 students in the province based on exam percentage average Additional details/criteria available on school website or from your counsellor
