  3. VSAT ( Very Small Aperture Terminal ) C- Band ( 6/4 GHZ { UL/DL} ) KU- Band ( 10/14 GHZ { UL/DL } ) Antenna : (0.6M ( ave. 1.2 M - 2.4 M) Data Rates : ( ave. 96 kb/s - 2Mb/s ) • Provides a seamless means to integrate the WAN connectivity across the country or across the world .

  4. 1- VSAT Connectivity Supports Voice , Data , and Video as : 1.1 Point-to-Point to provide a dedicated link and dedicated bandwidth bet. two locations. Ideal for static environments, where communication requirements are clearly established . 1.2 Meshed Network that allows all connected sites to communicate directly with each other, using a shared pool of bandwidth - optimizing performance and cost effectiveness. 1.3 Multi-Point IP Based Network providing a partial mesh or star topology where each remote site can communicate with the others via the central hub , bandwidth is shared . In addition IPoVSAT addresses and transmits the packets in an optimum manner assuring quality of service.

  6. 2- WIFI / WIMAX Technologies • Definitions : 1.1 WIFI , Wireless Fidelity generic standard of IEEE 802.11 Network 1.2 WIMAX ,Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access generic standard of IEEE 802.16 as Broadband Wireless Access.

  7. WIFI / WIMAX • Used as Access to areas that are too : - remote , difficult , expensive with traditional wired infrastructures ( Copper or Optical Cables ). • Key deployment types are : - Backhaul - Last – mile - Large - area coverage ( hot zones )

  8. WIFI • Generic standard of IEEE 802.11 Network 802.11a , 802.11b , 802.11g ( 54 M b/s , 11 Mb/s , 54 Mb/s ) ( 5 GHz , 2.4 GHz , 2.4 GHz ) ( OFDM , DSSS , OFDM ) OFDM : Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing DSSS : Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum

  11. WIMAX • 1. Provides a fast , cost – effective , easy to deploy with built in QoS. • 2. Licensed 2.5 GHz , 3.5 GHz and license – exempt 5.8 GHz band • 3. Standard uses OFDMA , similar to OFDM in addition to dividing the carriers , into multiple subcarriers, grouping multiple subcarriers into subchannels .

  13. WIMAX MCIT has finalized the first phase of the WIMAX Field Trial which is up and running at the Smart Village covering 5 Buildings to offer high speed Internet Access . Other applications and services such as VoIP , Video Conferencing and Video streaming are currently being tested across those buildings . Phase 2 of the trial is completed in which the MCIT Branch in Mohandeseen has been connected and Under test .
