  1. Top 7 Reasons Why Recruitment Consultants Fail To Deliver Business A recruitment consultant is not always the right choice for your business. Not only will they take their cut of your largess (typically 15% – 30%) and expect you to pay them a retainer upfront, but many recruitment consultants won't deliver the goods. This article looks at some common failings of agencies and how you can avoid falling foul of them yourself. 1 https://www.alliancerecruitmentagency.com/

  2. 1: The Wrong Recruitment Consultant The first problem that businesses face when deciding to use an agency is that often there are no suitable candidates available in the market to fill the role; it's hard enough finding someone who even knows what admin services are let alone trying to find admin staff for a small company or organisation. The issue with recruiters is that unless they specialise in admin staff for small businesses, they will try and match you with admin managers from large companies who are already overworked. Not only is this not the person you need in your admin department but it also demonstrates that the recruiter in question has no idea what size of expert admin employment agencies to use! 2: Recruiters Don't Know What They're Looking For It's not just admin talent that the admin recruitment agency is struggling to find - even admin staff can be hard to come by. When you look at your admin department, do you have an admin manager who has been doing this for years and knows exactly what skills are needed? If so, chances are that they have a good understanding of the kind of candidates who will fit in well with your organisation. Unfortunately many recruiters don't really know how to assess a candidate's abilities apart from going through their resume which has been slanted to make them look as appealing as possible. Without actually meeting a candidate or assessing them in person against real life scenarios it can be very difficult for a recruiter to assess their suitability. 3: Recruitment Consultants Are Too Expensive One of the biggest advantages admin recruiters have is that they can command a fee from your admin staff's salary. This means you'll be paying a high price for a new admin member who has no experience and, often, little or no training either. If you're spending around £30k on an admin manager then this might not seem too bad but if this is going to be one individual in what should be a fairly small department then it could end up being at least 3 times more expensive than hiring internally! Where possible companies should always consider taking on new admin members themselves rather than using an agencies - especially when starting out with limited funds. 4: Recruitment Agencies Don't Listen It's not just admin recruitment agencies that can overlook your needs; even admin managers hired directly by companies aren't always the best fit. For example, you might be an admin manager who has worked for small to medium sized businesses all their career and is used to having at least some control over what they do. When they move jobs it takes them a while 2 https://www.alliancerecruitmentagency.com/

  3. to adapt to working within larger organisations where they can often feel like just another cog in the machine or, worse still, find themselves reporting to someone many years their junior! Be sure to give yourself enough time wherever possible so that there isn't any chance of this happening - admin recruiters are only after all - and if you find yourself unhappy in your new admin team, don't be afraid to take a step back and actually think about what you want instead of doing whatever is easiest for the company. 5: Recruitment Agencies Are Too Pushy Once admin recruiters have found someone they think will fit in with your organisation, they're not going to take no for an answer; especially if there's a retainer involved! Many recruitment agencies won't even allow candidates go to other jobs until they've signed on the dotted line so it can put your new admin member under significant pressure. Make sure that when you work with admin staff recruitment agencies you give yourself plenty of time and don't feel pressurised into making any decision before you're ready. You can give admin agencies a list of what you're looking for and they'll do their best but, ultimately, admin recruitment is something you should be involved in. 6: Recruitment Agencies Don't Care You might think that it's the admin staff who are most likely to leave your company or change departments but this isn't always the case; admin recruiting can also move on to work with other organisations leaving you in the lurch. To avoid being left high and dry until a replacement has been found, some companies have started recruiting their own admin managers so that there's no chance of getting caught short. This may not be ideal if you want an admin manager straight away - especially if they've committed themselves to working elsewhere - but it's a better option than having no admin staff at all. 7: Recruitment Agencies Aren't Qualified One of the main reasons admin recruiters fail to deliver business is because they're not always qualified to do the job. They might have good sales skills and be great at finding candidates but, once they've found someone, it's up to the admin manager to make sure they're the right fit for the company. This means that, often, admin recruiters are left out of the loop and don't have a say in who actually gets taken on. This can lead to problems further down the line as admin staff recruited in this way may not be suited to the company culture or be able to do the job properly. 3 https://www.alliancerecruitmentagency.com/
