  1. What percentage of students at CCHS do you think have consumed alcohol within the last 30 days? Please answer honestly. Write the PERCENTAGE on your colored paper along with your first and last name. Do NOT change your answers! If you guess correctly, you could be in the running for a prize!

  2. Stand up if you have a red paper. You represent 76% of your class.

  3. According to the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities survey, that CCHS students completed, 76% of Camden County High School Students choose not to drink. • And while we are all thinking this… YES. This is hard to believe and right now you are all thinking this power point is a huge lie.

  4. Consider This…… • 76% of our entire high school population is approximately 1,872 students. • This means that 24% of students in our school DO drink. This is approximately 598 students. Almost 600 students in our school do drink. Is this more believable?

  5. Stand up if you have a blue paper. You represent 24% of your class. • The blue paperrepresents the nearly 600 who do drink.

  6. Return your blue and red papers to your teacher to be placed back in the envelope.

  7. So what does this mean for you?

  8. If you choose not to drink, you are in the majority! While it may seem like everyone you know drinks, this is not true. As a student body, we tend to focus on our negative attributes, such as the perception that “everyone” drinks, rather than the reality, that most people do not drink.

  9. Though there is peer pressure to drink, just remember that you are NOT alone if you choose sobriety. You are choosing to value your future, your health, and the people around you that are being affected by your choices.

  10. HAPPY RED RIBBON WEEK!
