justice • If you treat others fairly, then you are showing justice. • “I want justice,” said Anansi. “Turtle cheated me.” • Do you ask for justice when you want something done in a fair way? • Think of a time when you wanted justice. • Turn to your partner and share.
What is this? • Where have you seen one of these? • Why is this used for justice?
task • When you finish your work, you have completed a task. • Since there are two of us, we can share the task. • What could be a difficult task, homework or eating? Doing 5 or 20 push-ups? Walking or running a mile?
Prey • Prey is an animal this is hunted for food. • What creatures might be a prey for a shark?
Shallow • Something shallow is not very deep. • Would you rather swim in shallow water or deep water? Why?
reels • A person reels something in by winding up a line attached to it. • If someone reels in a fish, in what direction would the fish be traveling?
strands • Long, thin pieces of something are called strands • What do you do when strands of hair get in your eye?
social • A social animal is one that lives in a group with other animals of the same kind. • Which are more social – dogs or cats? Explain.
spiral • A spiral shape curls around and around in a circle. • Why might a spinning spiral make someone dizzy?

elaborate • If many details decorate something, it is elaborate. • Spiders can create elaborate designs in their webs • Would an elaborate design have many tiny, colorful detail or be very plain?
inventive • A person who creates or solves something in a new way is inventive. • The water spider has an inventive way to live underwater. • Which would be inventive: a new kind of vehicle or a new sheet of paper?
Choose one to do with partner • Suppose you were accidentally locked in a room. Think of an inventive way to get out. • Draw an elaborate spider web
