  2. The Great Salvation A Greater Messenger 1:1 Past – God spoke to men through prophets, angels, and visions. Present – Heb 1:2-5 God now speaks through his son. Heb 1:3, Jn 14:8-10, Heb 5:8-9 Christ has all power and authority. Christ is God in the fullness. Christ is a better priest. Heb 7:22-25, 4:13-15

  3. The Great Salvation A Greater Message Past – Revelation of God’s will and nature were incomplete. Chapter 9: Commands and rituals of the OT where a shadow of things to come. Men only had a partial understanding. 1 Pet 1:10-11 Present – God’s revelation is complete. Eph 3:3-5, 2 Tim 3:16-17, Heb 4:12, 2 Pet 1:3-4

  4. The Great Salvation A Greater Cost / Reward Past – Bulls and goats could not wash away sins. Heb 10:1-4 Present – The blood of Christ washes away sin once and for all. Heb 9:13-14, Rom 5:6-8

  5. How do we neglect this great salvation? Some have a heart of disbelief. Heb 3:12-13 They do not heed the warnings. Heb 3:12 They do not fear missing out. Heb 4:1

  6. How do we neglect this great salvation? Some are dull of hearing. Heb 5:11-14 They do not understand. Heb 5:12 They do not exercise their knowledge. Heb 5:14, 2 Tim 2:15

  7. How do we neglect this great salvation? Some forsake their salvation. Heb 10:23-26 • They are not holding fast. Heb 10:23 • They are apathetic. Matt 12:30, Rev 3:15-16 • They do not consider their brethren. Heb 10:24 • They just choose to sin. Heb 10:26

  8. How do we neglect this great salvation? Some are weighted and snared with sin. Heb 12:1-4 They are unable to run the race. Heb 12:1 We must look to Christ as our example. Heb 12:2-3

  9. What is the remedy to our neglect? We must give earnest heed. Heb 2:1 Heb 3:12 …Take heed… Heb 4:1 … Let us fear… Heb 10:23 …Hold fast… We must increase our faith. Heb 11 Heb 12:1 Look to these examples. We must work. Heb 13:20-21, John 9:4, Heb 4:9-11

  10. What about you? How will you escape? Heb 2:2-3 Is it too late for you? Heb 6:4-6 Dare you trodden under foot the son of God? Heb 10:29 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Heb 10:30-31

  11. Jesus Said…. John 8:24 …if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins. Luke 13:3 …except you repent you shall all likewise perish. Mark 16:15-16 …preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be condemned. Matt 10:32-33 Whoever will confess me before men, him will I confess before my Father who is in heaven. Whoever will deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven.
