US Flag Ocean Carrier Availability Issues • With the winding down of the war in the Middle East we have seen huge reduction in US Flag availability. • Fewer ships, fewer sailings and fewer Ports of Call • Greater need for Foreign Flag waivers • Makes bidding many traffic lanes difficult…. “must I bid with P1 service in mind when I know that only P2 or P3 will be available?” • Will U.S. Flag capacity continue to erode?

  5. Customs Update • Baltimore • Seattle • Proper Documentation • ACE vs Paper • Customer Brokers vs “Informal” Clearance • Where is this all headed?

PII Update • Issue with CBP & Dept of Commerce making vessel manifest PII available on HHG shipments has been a problem for years! • H.R. 4403, “The Moving Americans Privacy Act”, which provides vessel manifest PII protection for all HHG moves past House of Rep on April 17. • S. 998, the Senate companion legislation to H.R. 4403, is currently in the Senate Finance Committee. • IAM & AMSA working together to influence Senate Finance Committee members for a quick “discharge”. • legislation remains unopposed but ultimate prospects for passage this year may depend on Senate floor time availability.
