Storage, BU-Server & BU-Client • Onderzoek naar Centrale Storage in LUDIT (Rudy Rys). • LUDIT denkt aan NetApps-achtige oplossing (Zoals oa UZ-Leuven – KULAK – RUGent – KBC - .. …. …). • Centrale Storage voor Toledo - Studenten - (AIV-Servers). • KULNET kan geen Centrale Storage aan Decentrale diensten bieden. • Uitzondering voor AIV – Algemeen Beheer – Rectoraat. • NetApps listprijs voor 2T  ~€23.000 • Groot aanbod van goedkope NAS-Boxen (Plextor – LinkSys - .. . … . .. .. ) vanaf .. .. ..$300. • SUN met ZFS.  (http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/whatis/) • ZFS is a new kind of filesystem that provides simple administration, transactional semantics, • end-to-end data integrity, and immense scalability. Storage, BU-Server & BU-Client • Van een BackUp verwachten we betrouwbaarheid en snel operationeel. • TSM Server-BU / Server-RES á 5G/u tot 20G/u. • Externe Harde Schijf aan de Server (FW of USB2) (50G/u tot 60G/u). • In combinatie met RDIFF-BU is het mogelijk meerdere versies te bewaren (Snapshots). • (Zie LinSam 10/03/2005). • LinSam-Server BU gebasseerd op RSYNC tussen 2 Servers. Manuele Server switch neemt 10 sec. (FSW) • Administrator neemt beslissing, NIET automatisch. (FSW) •  Scripts in Crontab met RSYNC om de ???/uur ???/min. •  Script met Coppy door Admin geactiveerd. (~20 Configuratie-bestanden) • BDC mogelijk mits Sync van “share’s”, “passwd”, “group” “smbpasswd” …….. • Wordt door Samba afgeraden ! (WINS, PW, …. ) ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? • Theologie & HIW werken al een tijdje met DRBD (http://www.drbd.org) • Gebasseerd op Netwerk Raid1. Storage, BU-Server & BU-Client • TSM om BU’s te nemen van client PC’s wordt door LUDIT afgebouwd. • Client BU’s op de LinSam-servers geeft bij Server-Crash zware overlast bij Server-Rebuild. • Oplossing Rega Instituut gebasseerd op SyncBackSE. • - SyncBackSE (WIN/OS) heeft Freeware of betalende versie (oa Copy Open Files). • - 1 licentie is voldoende voor n-Clients. • - Geen “Snapshots” • - Gebasseerd op Windows File Sharing en bijhorende “security”-mogelijkheden/beperkingen. • - Geen installatie op client-PC’s. • - Vooraf Folder op client-PC “sharable” definïeren. • - SyncBackSE-server neemt zelf initiatief om client-folders te BU-en.
