  2. OBJECTIVES • Leaders will understand expectations of the role • Leaders will identify personal assets • Leaders will begin to develop a shared vision of board experience.

  3. ADVISORY COUNCIL ROLE • Use networks to build relationships for Extension • Provide quality input to ensure relevant programs • Interpret the program to stakeholders • Legitimize program changes in communities

  4. EXPECTATIONS OF FACULTY • Show commitment to Extension • Attend meetings • Give honest, truthful feedback • Help with council projects • Prepare for meetings in timely way • Learn history, philosophy and programs of Extension.

  5. WHAT YOU BRING • Diverse perspective • Strong network of participation and influence • Relationships with key people • Visions of possible futures • Leadership and influence

  6. GOAL: TEAM LEARNING • Shared understanding of purpose of extension and advisory council • Shared values of what is important. • Knowledge of who is good at what • Everyone is respected for what they contribute • Take risks and learn from results
