  1. 6 Dental Care Tips to Maintain Healthy Smile

  2. Tips to Maintain Healthy Smile • How's your smile? Are your teeth in good condition? Stay-at-home orders are slowly being lifted. • Dental offices are adjusting to the new normal, too. • Still, it's best to stay at home and only go out when necessary.

  3. Look After Your Dental Health from Home With These Essential Tips:

  4. Brush At least Twice A Day • Just because you're not leaving home does not mean you should also forget about good oral hygiene. Keep brushing your teeth at least twice a day. • And do it properly. Spend at least two minutes and be sure to cover all areas. If you're using orthodontic appliances, such as braces, you need to brush more often. • Debris can easily get trapped in tight spaces and they need to be removed before they turn into plaque.

  5. Floss Daily • Complement your daily brushing with flossing. • Flossing can reach areas that your toothbrush can't. It can also remove dirt that your brush won't be able to. • Look into the mirror while flossing so you'll see clearly which areas to target.

  6. Switch To A New Toothbrush • Don't forget to change your toothbrush every 3-4 months or as soon as they start to get frayed. • It may be time to switch to a new one now! Choose the soft-bristled ones as aggressive brushing can cause the enamel to erode. • For your little ones at home, choose a toothbrush design that has their favorite cartoon character.

  7. Beware Of Sensitivity Triggers • If you're experiencing heightened teeth sensitivity, take note of your triggers. Avoid using the area, too. • Rinse with warm salt water to soothe and help clean the area. If the sensitivity is accompanied by pain, contact your dentist. • You may be able to get in for a dental exam.

  8. Care For Your Dental Appliances • If you're using removable dental appliances, don't forget to clean them. • If you have clear aligners or retainers, remember that you need to wear them for maximum effectiveness. • If you keep forgetting to put them on, have a family member remind you. Not using them as directed by your dentist can prolong your treatment period.

  9. Watch Out For Tooth Discoloration Culprits • If you're most concerned about teeth staining, minimize the intake of food and beverages that cause tooth discoloration. • Colored beverages and sauces can leave behind stains on your teeth. You don't have to take them out of your diet completely, though. • But be sure to rinse your mouth with clean water after indulging.
