  6. Current Status of CE • No oversight – CE quality inconsistent • Varied qualifications for each jurisdiction • Colleges are frustrated • Regulatory boards are struggling • D.C.s are overwhelmed

Regulatory Boards • Regulatory boards recognize PACE approval • No longer need to review courses offered by PACE providers nor randomly audit D.C.s • Boards still approve non-PACE courses directly • Benefits: • Decreased costs • Simplified CE approval process • Quality CE • Improved instructor credentialing • Improved attendance verification

  10. CE Providers • Voluntarily comply with PACE Criteria and Policies & Procedures • Use PACE seal on some or all courses • Benefits: • Single, simplified application process • Uniform criteria for approval • Automatic course approval • Professional credibility

Practitioners • Search PACE website for board requirements; find courses by topic or geographic region • Web-based • Database of relicensure information • Attendance verification automatically sent to regulatory boards • No need to track certificates • Simplified course assessment • Future: web-based course feedback

  15. PACE Structure • PACE Committee – 6 members • 2 - Regulatory boards • 1 - FCLB Director • 1 - Licensing board administrator • 1 - At-large member • Chair of PACE Review Team • Oversees PACE Review Team • Makes recommendations to FCLB Board

  16. PACE Structure • PACE Review Team – approx 18 • Subject experts from ACC colleges • Review Team members randomly selected to assess CE provider applications and determine ability to comply with PACE Policies & Procedures and Criteria • Retrospective review of course content for compliance

  17. Authority • PACE is a multi-layer program, relying on representatives of regulatory boards, ACC colleges, and licensing board administrators • PACE WILL NOT and CANNOT be the only approval process available

  18. Fees • Application fee: $500 • Not-for-profit annual recognition fee: $1,000 • For-profit annual recognition fee: $10,000 • Attendee records fee: $1 per credit hour, per attendee—maximum $10 per attendee • Reconsideration fee: $500 • Appeal: $1,500 initial deposit (fee determined by costs)
