Existing health services do not always meet migrants’ needs adequately and innovative ‘good practices’ need to be developed, tested and incorporated into health care policies. The addition of a cross-national perspective can yield new insights into the causes of ill-health and further the exchange of good practices. The Action brings together an international group of experts to consolidate and review work carried out so far, identify blind spots and persistent problems, and recommend ways forward. It will produce reports and organise workshops, conferences, joint publications and training activities to discuss and disseminate its findings. Main Achievements: • During the first year of the Action meetings have been held on: • Community engagement, user involvement and health promotion • Health care policy for migrants and ethnic minorities • Migration, psychosis and (compulsory) treatment • Health care for undocumented migrants • Intercultural communication, medical interpretation and cultural mediation • Social care for immigrants • Migrants' health and gender • Members have visited each others’ institutions and are collaborating to develop new research projects on a number of topics within the programme. • The meetings already held have resulted in new publications.
