  2. Golden Goal Pilot Project How our pilot project in the South East evolved! • Glasgow’s Community Learning Strategy Partnership • Youth Literacies – Castlemilk Youth Complex • Youth Services and Community Based Adult Learning • Glasgow South East Regeneration Agency

Golden Goal Pilot Project Bringing the young adults on board • An informal learning opportunity to raise aspirations, improve literacy and numeracy, increase access to sport and promote local vibrancy • Circuit Training • Gym Induction and 8 week pass to the Glasgow Club • Topical Urban Art • Relevant and appropriate literacy and numeracy activities • A nice lunch!

  4. Golden Goal Pilot Project Weekly Programme • 10.30am – 11.30am Fitness/Circuit Training • 11.30am – 12.30pm Literacy and Numeracy • 12.30pm – 1.00pm Communal Lunch • 1.00pm – 3.00pm Literacy and Art * Additional Activities – Gym Induction and Cycling Trip to Millport

Golden Goal Pilot Project • Dedicated Youth Worker for the duration of the Pilot Programme • Providing a Youth Work Support Role to the group • Encouraging, supporting and participating in activities with the young people • Identifying gaps and promoting uptake of services • Through personal contacts, assisting in continuing access to gym sessions

  7. Golden Goal Pilot Project • Sourcing of other resources • Sourcing finance for fitness coach • Fitness Coach delivered football and circuit training • Incorporating literacy and numeracy into circuit training sessions

Golden Goal Pilot Project Conclusions and Outcomes • Mixing with other people – I wouldn’t be doing that stuck in the house • I feel fitter • I’m starting college next week and my DJ business is taking off • I’ve met new pals and they give me a buzz, better than my other pals who are nutters.
