  2. Rotary Foundation Motto & Mission • Doing Good in the World To enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty Endorsed by 2007 Council on Legislation

  3. Districts Grants • The agenda for this session states that we will discuss: • How to plan? • How to fill the papers? • Financing and timing issues • Note: Web-based, therefore no papers!

  4. District Grants • Aim is: More responsibility to district and clubs • Thus: Lots of freedom for District! • More funds available to DistrictDSG 20% of DDF now DG 50% of DDF • Note: DDF is 50% of your Districts contribution to TRF of 3 years ago

  5. District Grants • Educational and humanitarian activities consistent with the mission • Single “block” grant awarded annually • Smaller activities and projects, no matching from TRF • Fund both local or international activities • Local decision making with broad guidelines

  6. District Grants: Sample Activities • Exchange of mixed professional vocational training teams with another district • International travel for local doctor to volunteer at a clinic • Scholarship for student to attend local or international university • Art supplies to assist youth after-school program

  7. Districts Grants in D1600 • Note: You can do this differently and set other priorities! • Planning. • In May/June invitation to clubs to apply for funding of their project • Application to be made before September 1st. • D1600 TRF Commission decides in its September meeting on awards. • One block request to TRF Evanston

  8. District Grants in D1600 • TRF Evanston decides real quick, very few questions, only to ascertain that it remains within the TRF mission. • TRF sends the money to D1600 • D1600 sends the money to clubs • Clubs report spending to D1600 TRF Commission • D1600 reports spending of DG to TRF • File closed, hopefully before January 1st.

  10. Criteria of D1600 • D1600 uses as criteria for award of grant to clubs: • Is it within the Area’s of Focus?(Note: this is not a TRF criteria!) • Wish to support many clubs • What contributes the club itself in project? • How much contributes club toTRF? • How often received club support from TRF in past?

  11. Paper, Web and mail • TRF provides forms for clubs to use when applying and reporting on DG. See www.rotary.org. Makes life easy. • D1600 mails these forms to clubs. • These forms remain in District. • Web: Only the spending plan and reporting is entered via member access. Between TRF Evanston and D1600 only via web. Is very limited.

  12. Paper, Web and mail (2) • Mail is used a lot. Yes: a lot! • Between clubs and D1600 TRF commission • Why: Rotarians don’t read, don’t want to search at www.rotary.org, get easily confused when things change, forget to report etc. • So: task of TRF-Commission members is to stay friendly and customer centric when explaining these matters. Again. • TRF staff always friendly and professional

  13. District Grants for you • Go to www.rotary.org and familiarize yourself with District and Global Grants! • Log in into “member access” and look at the forms to be filled out and the information to be provided. • Build up a good relationship with the very helpful TRF Staff. Questions?
