  3. WHAT WE DO…… Provide a full range of assistance to faculty, staff and administrators in obtaining and administering funding from non-University sources to support Texas Southern University’s research and scholarly activities. 

  4. HOW WE DO IT…… Identify potential source of external funding for extramural research and scholarly activities. Assist in obtaining appropriate program guidelines and forms. Review proposals for compliance with University policies and agency terms. Oversee the transmittal of proposal to funding agencies in a timely manner. Assist with obtaining institutional approvals. Prepare and negotiate subcontracts for those projects containing these requirements. Serve as a resource for questions regarding all aspects of non-financial research administration.

  7. OUR MISSION • To provide professional administrative and accounting support to the faculty, staff, and students who are involved in various research activities here at Texas Southern University

OUR OBJECTIVES Accurate and timely responses to inquiries initiated by researchers & their respective support staff regarding specific grant and contract issues Training for research faculty and support staff regarding applicable federal regulations, state guidelines, and university policies & procedures Provide reports of expenditures to researchers and funding agencies, with a high level of accuracy, while meeting established deadlines Respond to internal and external auditors on a timely basis

SERVICES PROVIDED • Assistance in preparation of proposal budget development • Establishment of expenditure/revenue budgets in the BANNER Finance System • Training in the preparation of documents necessary to process expenditure transactions • Training on the BANNER Finance System • Review and process expenditure transactions

  10. SERVICES PROVIDED(cont’d) • Prepare and submit Financial Status Reports (FSR’s) and/or invoices to funding agencies • Coordinate the successful close-out of sponsored projects

  13. WHO WE ARE….. • Serves as: • A centralized source for compliance information • Oversight for monitoring compliance adherence (federal/state grants & vendor contracts) • Repository for reporting of noncompliance violations(TSU Ethics Hotline) • Coordination of Compliance Awareness & Trainings

  19. MISSION To ensure research compliance with state and federal governing agency regulations and internal policies, guidelines and procedures, and to provide an environment that supports research advancements for the research community of Texas Southern University

  21. What We Do Coordinate and oversee the award and procurement processes for internal seed grants and travel grants. Facilitate and coordinate the research protocol submission, review, approval and management processes. Ascertain that all federally required inspections, evaluations and program reviews are conducted and that all internal and external reporting is done efficiently and effectively. Coordinate faculty development URCC workshops, seminars, training sessions and research enhancement programs.

  22. How We Do It Provide Oversight and Administrative Support to the University Research Committees. Along with the Faculty Development Committee and the Research Advisory Council, manage and administer the award and procurement processes for seed and travel grants. Along with the University Research Compliance Committees (URCC), screen, review and manage all research protocols. Serve as the liaison between the URCC’s , the Provost, Deans, faculty members and students. Manage animal care facility operations and coordinate animal facility inspections and animal care and use program reviews. Conduct and or coordinate URCC workshops, research compliance training sessions, research development training sessions, seed grant procurement training sessions and research enhancement programs.
