  4. Our Holds… • All of the Monkey holds are TUV certified , and comply with various norms (e.g.. DIN EN 12572-3 (Artificial Climbing Structures; Part 3 Safety requirements and test methods for climbing holds); EN1176.1 (Playground Equipment and surfacing; Part 1 General safety requirement and test methods). • Made of polyurethane and polyester • Premium quality • Non-toxic materials • Shatterproof • Ergonomic design – no sharp edges. • Suitable for use by Children. • By using a standardised length of screw, there is no excess length protruding through the back of the Monkey, so guaranteed to be harmless to the Trees! In addition sufficient fixedness and therefore safety is assured. • The size of the hold specifically matches the Monkey – the risk of injuries caused by distant parts or sharp edges is minimised. • Disclaimer – By using climbing holds of other manufacturers Monkey Hardware product liability expires Challenge Course Supplies

  5. Which Tension Belt? The straps are manufactured from premium quality polyester, highly UV resistant. Production is to DIN EN 9001:2000 and ISO/TS 16949:2002. Stitching meets standards of GS-compliance (German Equipment Safety Act) • Tension Belt with zinc die-cast buckle; • Low weight (approx. 115g) • Set up and remove Monkeys quickly • A little more strength and technique required to pull the belt tight • Locks tight • Lower price • Less bulky – less noticeable on the tree • Low risk of injury on the buckle • F allowed 250 daN • Tension Belt with steel ratchet; • Weight approx. 410g • Easy to throw around the tree • Easy to pull tight and readjust the fit • Locks absolutely tight • Good for overhanging routes and bouldering • Feels safe • Low risk of injury on the ratchet • F allowed 450 daN NOTE The Monkey product liability will expire by using tension belts of other manufacturers! 6. Calculate how high you can set up a Monkey Set • Define the space in between the tension belts • For Children the ideal space between the single tension belts is approx. 30 – 35 cm • For Adults a space of approx. 40 – 50 cm is recommended • Check the content of the Set you are considering purchasing • The height you reach is determined by the quantity of tension belts included in the set – so a BASIC Set includes 10 tension belts (10 x0.4m = 4m) • How to get higher • With a Starter Kit you can gain an additional 80cm • You can simply increase the space between the tension belts – climbing will be more difficult then • Additional tension belts, Monkeys and holds can be incorporated according to your wishes • You don’t have to go high to have fun – you can set the Monkeys up around the lower parts of the tree, or a sturdy lower branch, so that you can boulder on it. NOTE We strongly recommend using a crash pad/mat to avoid injuries Challenge Course Supplies

  7. Plan your route(s) Route A. Every set containing the same number of Monkeys and Tension Belts – One Monkey including a climbing hold is put on to each tension belt. The result is 1 climbing route, in which the holds and steps are defined by the position of the Monkeys. Using this way it is possible to get high up in the tree with a relatively small number of Monkeys Route B. This combination shows two Monkeys per tension belt. Several climbing routes are possible, because holds and steps are not defined by the position and can therefore be figured out individually. This combination tends to be easier to climb, because beginners can always use a second hold to stabilise themselves. Whichever combination you choose to use, we recommend the use of our Starter kit; containing 4 Monkeys without holds and 2 Tension Belts – these serve as footholds on the lower part of the tree, therefore you don’t need holds on them. NOTE SOME PRE PACKED SETS INCLUDE THE STARTER KIT Challenge Course Supplies

  8. 1. Once you have chosen your tree, prepare the Monkeys and tension belts. Put the tension belt around the tree, and tighten loosely 2. Put the Monkey behind the belt from the bottom and connect it… HOW TO SET UP THE Monkeys easily! 4. Once you have connected and set up your belay device, set up more Monkeys as you ascend. 3. Tighten the tension belt… You can find a video on our web site that shows the easiest way of setting up the Monkeys and explains what else to consider. Challenge Course Supplies

  9. Monkey Hardware - „THE KEY FOR CLIMBING“ • The black base plate is called the „Monkey“ • For us it is the „Key for Climbing“. • In addition we need an ergonomic climbing hold, a screw and a tension belt. • The complete, assembled Monkeys can be attached to the trees fast and easy with the tension belt. A distance of 30-50 cm in between the belts will suit most users. • For an effort- and time-saving assembly, the throwing technique of the tension belt is of great importance. This is how every single throw should score. • To assemble the Monkey, the tension belt hast o be thrown around the tree with some momentum. It´s important to keep your arms up, throw the buckle behind your body and to build momentum with your other arm at the same time. While throwing the tension belt around the tree, let the band slip through your fingers. This way, the belt will easily fly around the trunk and back to you. It´s best to practice this technique in both directions, before starting the actual assembly. • Thread the band into the buckle and tighten the tension belt loosely. Now the Monkey is attached from below, so that it connects behind the band. Hold the tension while doing this. Now, find the correct placement for the Monkey and tighten the tension belt completely. To reduce friction while tightening the tension belt, push the closure system. • If the Monkey tends to slip on very smooth surfaces, even though you applied maximum force, you can use a second tension belt in the designated slot to secure the Monkey. • By choosing different climbing holds, shapes of trees and number of Monkeys, every suited tree can be given individual routes and character. • Safety First! • In order to comply with current legislation, and best practice; • You must have your chosen tree inspected by an arboricultural expert. • You must ensure that you use an EN358 work positioning lanyard with an EN361/358 full body harness, together with your EN341 descender when you are climbing the tree to attach your Monkeys. • We haul all the Monkeys and tension belts with us in a backpack to the top. Always attach the backpack to the top belt next to the Monkey with a karabiner. Challenge Course Supplies
