  6. Positive Behavior Support Program Mission To improve student achievement and secure commitment from faculty and all other stakeholders.

  7. Changes in Behavior • Goal 1: Raise school-wide student achievement on the Westest to attain AYP in Reading/Language Arts and Math.

  8. Changes in Behavior • Goal 2: To motivate students to have higher expectations for themselves as measured by GPA, attendance, conduct and test scores.

  9. Program Description As participants in a program that defines and rewards positive behavior, students at Lumberport Middle are encouraged to reach their potential as citizens and learners. This program offers regular incentives to succeed academically and socially. Students will be rewarded for their positive behavior and work ethic during the school day. Students will earn EAGLE BUCKS which can be used to purchase trip vouchers, school supplies, personal and entertainment merchandise. At the end of each six weeks, a motivational rewards assembly will be held for each grade level to recognize students who have attained academic excellence and perfect attendance.

  10. DATA • Through compiling specific data of behavior, P.B.S. committee members found that behavior problems, expectations, and incentives were inconsistent among grade levels. The problems existed in the following areas: Inappropriate language/gestures, fighting/physical aggression, overt/open defiance, disruptions, harassment/teasing/bullying, being out of area, and disrespect. • Faculty end of year survey reflected general success of the PBS program, however the overall consensus indicted the need to reevaluate and revamp our current program to address teacher inconsistencies. • To address these inconsistencies the team has determined to abolish the PBS cards and replace it with a monetary reward system that incorporates real life skills and situations.

  11. Monitoring Achievement PLAN TO MONITOR STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT Using Benchmark scores, formal assessments, and Westest for each child, portfolios will be made by homerooms teachers. Students will be grouped according to Math and Reading skills. After every six weeks, students will be reassessed and moved into appropriate focus group. Each team will decide on lesson to be taught and which teacher will target that CSO.

  12. Collaborate Student Council conducted a survey to determine types of incentives students preferred. At all three grade levels, the leading votes were for free time , food, and formal recognition. Administration and Teams will develop a list of reward incentives.We resolve to…. High expectations guide students toward their potential. All students will become a productive citizen in the school as well as the community.

  13. Expectations Guidelines were established for the following commons areas based on E.A.G.L.E.S. Expectations: bus room, lunch room, auditorium, bathrooms, and hallways. The students were oriented and trained in these expectations. In addition, each area’s specific guidelines were prominently posted. Teachers posted these E.A.G.L.E.S. Expectations in their individual classrooms. Posters were also hung in the auditorium, restrooms, bus room, cafeteria, and hallways.

  15. EAGLE BUCKS Students will use the EAGLE BUCKS to purchase items or activities of their choice. A school store will be established for the students to use.

  16. EAGLE BUCKS EAGLE BUCKS Students will use the EAGLE BUCKS to purchase items or activities of their choice. A school store will be established for the students to use. Teachers will be given a proportionate amount based on the number of students enrolled in their classes.Students will be given:Eagle Bucks in $1 dominations by teachers, aides, cooks, and custodians. Eagle Bucks in $5 dominations by the principals for Regular Honor and Perfect Attendance within a six weeks. Eagle Bucks in $10 dominations by the principals for Superior Honor Roll within a six weeks. $15 in Eagles Bucks by the principals for Perfect Honor Roll.

  17. EAGLE BUCK GUIDELINES • Students will not deface Eagle Bucks. • Students are 100% responsible for their Eagle Bucks.(money lost, stolen or defaced will not be replaced)
