  1. Ready for Battle – Part 2 PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT

  2. Persistent Persevering Prayer • NLT Ephesians 6:18 Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all Christians everywhere. • NLT Jude 1:20 But you, dear friends, must continue to build your lives on the foundation of your holy faith. And continue to pray as you are directed by the Holy Spirit. • Luke 11:5-13 – keep on asking • Luke 18:1-8 – the persistent widow • Matt. 15:21-28 – pressing the Lord for what is yours

  3. 1. Holy Spirit reveals the power in the Name of Jesus • John 14:6 - "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” • John 14:13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, because the work of the Son brings glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask anything in my name, and I will do it! 15 "If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.

  4. 2. Holy Spirit reveals the mind of God so we can know what He has given us • 1Corinth. 2:10 - But we know these things because God has revealed them to us by his Spirit, and his Spirit searches out everything and shows us even God's deep secrets. 11 ….and no one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit. 12 And God has actually given us his Spirit (not the world's spirit) so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.

  5. 3. Holy Spirit helps us to persevere in prayer • Romans 8:26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress. For we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God's own will.

  6. 4. Holy Spirit gives us faith to believe for what we are asking • 4 Now there are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but it is the same Holy Spirit who is the source of them all... 8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another He gives the gift of special knowledge. 9 The Spirit gives special faith to another, and to someone else He gives the power to heal the sick. 10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and to another the ability to prophesy. ..11 It is the one and only Holy Spirit who distributes these gifts. • Mark 11:20-25 (Mountain moving faith)

  7. 5. Holy Spirit enables us to pray in tongues, spiritual songs, etc. • NIV 1 Corinthians 14:13 For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret what he says. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15 So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind. • NLT Colossians 3:16 Let the words of Christ, in all their richness, live in your hearts and make you wise. Use his words to teach and counsel each other. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.

  8. HOW DO WE PRAY IN Holy spirit • Admit complete dependence on Him as Lord and surrender our will to Him (2Cor. 3:17-18) • Obey the Word (pathway to blessing) • Seek His Guidance & teaching (John 16:5-15) • Keep getting filled (Eph. 5:18) • Pray in tongues (1Cor. 12-14; Rom. 8:26,27)
