  1. Open House

    2013/2014
  2. A message from the ones who make sure I stay hired: Club and business partners will have tables in the PAC Courtyard. Mrs. Novelly will be selling PSAT tickets for the upcoming test. Parents can receive Home Access Center logins and passwords in the Media Center There will be a volleyball game in the gym if they would like to purchase tickets and attend.
  3. Common Core theme spreading country wide Does not change the content of our course Each class room to implement Reading Strategies (scan or pre-read, vocab from text, space out and chunk, rehearse) DBQ projects in American History (district mandated) 1st one coming up soon (what killed Reconstruction?) FRQ’s written in Psychologyclasses Emphasis not only on definition but being able to apply terminology
  4. A good time to tell you That all students are required to read nightly 15-20 minutes. No cramming. Ask child to teach you what they are learning. Ask them how they could use it in the real world. Help us help them to become thinkers about the content. They should rehearse after reading Prevent as much interference as possible (maybe read just before shut eye)
  5. Attendance Please, please, please, make sure your child is: Checking in with attendance when arriving after school has started and or before leaving early Take attendance office the required paperwork upon returning from absence (48 hrs. time limit)
  6. Absences Excused= 100% make up Unexcused Absence= 50% make up except for test which still can be made up for 100% Truancy- your child is absent without your knowing or the schools knowing= 0 make up
  7. Supplies Needed List Tissues Hand sanitizer Band aids (you would be surprised at how many people need these things. I have given out 3 already this year) Copy paper (8.5x11), normal letter size If you can help in any way, it would be appreciated
  8. Communication I try and send home mass emails from time to time. Be sure your e-mail address is current in e-school. Once you update it, you are good. My list then updates. Students should keep me in loop by e-mailing me when out, for assignments, make up dates etc… henslec@stjohns.k12.fl.us
  9. Thanks to you My students are truly outstanding This is because of you. You show your children that you care. They will be off to college soon. Continue to invest time in them and stress importance of their education. Stay up to date with what they are doing in classes, ask them questions, have them teach you.
  10. Have a safe trip home tonight and enjoy the rest of the week.
