  2. Hi Zane! • In this brochure I will guide you through some of the many features of this beautiful, marvelous country. I will show you some places of interest, common delicacies, safety precautions, exciting festivals and more.

  3. Safety precautions Never walk around showing off your blackberry or android or any expensive object. There is a 70% chance that someone will try to steal it. In all your tourism activities remember to stay in the group that you’re in and avoid lonely roads or paths. Also as much as possible try not to walk with large amounts of cash.

  4. Medicine It’s good to walk with any of the medication that you normally take.

  5. Bring your own car Transportation Maxi Taxi In Trinidad you can travel to different places by binging your own car or using a maxi taxi or bus.

  9. National Museum and Art Gallery This Museum manages a collection of some 10,000 items, including a collection of paintings by Michel-Jean Cazabon. Among the many items on display in seven major galleries are petroleum and geological exhibits, the permanent national art collection, and a small gallery on Trinidad's Carnival arts. The facilities include an audio-visual room which is used in an active educational programme.

  10. Mount St. Benedict Mount Saint Benedict, or the Abbey of Our Lady of Exile, is a Benedictine abbey located in north Trinidad. It was founded in October 1912, by an order of monks from Brazil, after the Order of St Benedict of Italy.

  12. Aripo Savannahs The Aripo Savannas are a natural savanna ecosystem situated between the Northern and Central Ranges inTrinidad. It is one of the last natural savannahs in T&T.

  13. Maracas Beach You can’t be called a tourist without experiencing the relaxation of this Caribbean paradise. Just a 40-minute drive from the capital, Port of Spain, is Maracas Bay, Trinidad's most popular beach. This fishing hamlet has a broad, sandy beach and occasionally has decent waves for bodysurfing.

  14. La Brea Pitch Lake The oddest attraction in Trinidad is the La Brea Pitch Lake, a continually replenishing lake of tar. As a sight it looks like a huge parking lot. It is the largest natural asphalt lake in the world.

  15. Caroni Bird Sanctuary This large swamp with mazelike waterways is bordered by mangrove trees, some plumed with huge termite nests. If you're lucky, you may see lazy caimans idling in the water and large snakes hanging from branches on the banks, taking in the sun. In the middle of the sanctuary are several islets that are home to Trinidad's national bird, the scarlet ibis. Just before sunset the ibis arrive by the thousands, their richly colored feathers brilliant in the gathering dusk, and as more flocks alight, they turn the mangrove foliage a brilliant scarlet. Bring a sweater and insect repellent. The sanctuary's only official tour operator is Winston Nanan.

Fort GeorgeJust a short taxi drive north from downtown Port of Spain and on a hill overlooking the city is the old Fort George, built in 1804 by the British as a defense post against enemies approaching NW Trinidad by sea; however, it never saw any military action and was restored beginning 1965.

  17. Carnival Carnival is a festive time of costumes, dance, music, competitions, rum, and partying (also referred to as fete-ing). Music styles associated with Carnival include soca, calypso and chutney.

  19. Doubles "Doubles" is a common street food in Trinidad and Tobago. It is a sandwich made with two flat fried "breads", called "bara" filled with curried chick peas or garbanzo beans, commonly called channa (from Hindi/Bhojpuri "chanaa"). Topped with a variety of spicy chutneys (mango, cucumber, coconut, tamarind) and extra pepper sauce (ranging from a dash "slight" to much more), this delicacy is undoubtedly the most popular fast food in Trinidad and Tobago. It is usually eaten for breakfast, and sometimes lunch, but can be a late night snack as well. Among the many popular doubles "hot spots" are the pioneer - Deen's Doubles in San Juan, Ali's Doubles in San Fernando, "Sauce Doubles" in Curepe, "Johnny's Doubles" in La Romaine and Golconda.

  20. Bake n’ Shark Bake N' Shark is a delicious local dish in Trinidad, and if you ask any Trinidadian where to go to get the best bake n' shark on the island, they will all tell you to go to Maracas Beach.
