  2. Borrowing • You need a KPL Card. • YOU are RESPONSIBLE for all materials borrowed on your card. • Do not borrow for a friend. If they lose the book or cause a fine, YOU will still have to pay. • Report lost cards IMMEDIATELY.

  3. Returning Library Materials • There is a drop box right inside the entry gate at the front of the circulation desk. • There is also an exterior drop box by the front doors.

  4. SMH Uniform in the Library • You need to be in school uniform, worn properly, between 8:55 and 3:01 • Yes, this is a public library but it is also your high school library and you are not a member of the public until 3:01 • EVEN if you are on lunch or have a spare!

  5. Pleaseabsolutely no food or drink • To avoid bugs and rodents in the library • To avoid sticky chairs and tables • To avoid damaged computers and carpeting • Please note: we do have a water fountain if you need a drink

  6. Overdues = $$$$$ • Avoid overdue fine penalties; bring your items back ON TIME. Others may be waiting. • You may renew most items once and online! Check student handbook for details. • You will be notified of overdue items. • If you owe more than $20.00 your borrowing privileges will be suspended.

  7. Print Credit • St. Mary’s High School gives each student 50 pages of print credit per term, but your print credit DOES NOT work in the library. • From 9:00 until 3:00 you need .05 CASH for each black & white page and $1.00 for each colour page to print in the library. • After 3:00 pm the cost of printing in black & white increases to .15 per page.

  8. Photocopying • .15 a page for black and white, 8 1/2” X 11” and legal size copies • $1.00 for colour copies • Double-sided copies are also available

  9. Plagiarism • Do not copy the work of other people. It’s stealing and a serious offence. • If you use three or more words together from someone else (a book, magazine, Internet, conversation etc.) give them CREDIT! NOW YOU KNOW!

  10. Computer Behaviour • SMH computers in the library are for CURRICULUM-RELATED use only • No computer games, EVEN ON SPARE OR LUNCH! • Your computer access is dependant on your ability to use computers appropriately. • Note: computer use is monitored!

  11. Computers & the KPL • KPL computers (in the pod) are available after schoolonly (i.e. 3:00 pm); they are reserved for the public during the school day. • Please consider purchasing a Kingston memory stick to transport data. • There are no DVD drives in the school computers • Wi-Fi is available

  12. Databases & E-books • SMH offers an extensive suite of online databases, organized by subject. Please look for them in the EZ Find Folder and select “Secondary Resources.” • E-books are found under GVRL in EZ Find and under the online links of the SMH Library Web Pages. • These resources are available from home. Please check your student handbook or ask Mrs. Mulhall for access information.

  13. Electronic Communication Devicesin the Library • As per the school rules, please no cell phones or electronic devices in the library

  14. Knowledge is free at the library. Just bring your own container.- Unknown
