  2. Borrowing • You need a KPL Card. • YOU are RESPONSIBLE for all materials borrowed on your card. • Do not borrow for a friend. If they lose the book or cause a fine, YOU will still have to pay. • Report lost cards IMMEDIATELY.

  3. Returning Library Materials • There is a drop box right inside the entry gate at the front of the circulation desk. • There is also an exterior drop box by the front doors.

  4. SMH Uniform in the Library • You need to be in school uniform, worn properly, between 9:00 and 3:10 • Yes, this is a public library but it is also your high school library and you are not a member of the public until 3:10 • EVEN if you are on lunch or have a spare!

  5. Pleaseabsolutely no food or drink • To avoid bugs and rodents in the library • To avoid sticky chairs and tables • To avoid damaged computers and carpeting • Please note: we do have a water fountain if you need a drink

  6. Overdues = $$$$$ • Avoid overdue fine penalties; bring your items back ON TIME. Others may be waiting. • You may renew most items twice and online! Check student handbook for details. • You will be notified of overdue items. • If you owe more than $20.00 your borrowing privileges will be suspended.

  7. Printing • There is no charge when printing from the school network during the school day. • The school library network printer is located just outside the school librarian’s office. • You may also sent your print job wirelessly to the KPL printer at a cost of .15 per page for black and white and $1.00 for colour. This printer is located near the water fountain.

  8. Photocopying • .15 a page (a side) for black and white, 8 1/2” X 11” and legal size copies • $1.00 for colour copies • Double-sided copies are also available

  9. Plagiarism • Do not copy the work of other people. Computer Behaviour • SMH computers in the library are for CURRICULUM-RELATED use only • Your computer access is dependant on your ability to use the computers appropriately • If listening online, please use headphones out of respect for other users • No computer games EVEN ON SPARE OR LUNCH!. • Please note: computer use is monitored!

  11. Computers & the KPL • KPL computers (in the pod) are available after schoolonly; they are reserved for the public during the school day. • Please consider purchasing a Kingston memory stick to transport data. • There are no DVD drives in the school computers

  12. Databases & E-books • SMH offers an extensive suite of online databases, organized by subject. Please look for them in the EZ Find Folder and select “Secondary Resources.” • E-books are found under GVRL in EZ Find and under the “Online Links” of the SMH Library Web Page. (Also check for online app access.) • These resources are available from home. Please check your student handbook or ask Mrs. Mulhall for access information.

  13. Electronic Devicesin the Library • Wi-Fi is available in the library • Please respect other library users and do not turn on volume. • Talk on phones in the foyer so you don’t disturb others. Thank you!
