Time and Place of Existence • The Australopithecus lived 3.75 million years ago in the eastern and southern parts of Africa.
Physical Appearance • The Australopithecus are believed to be our early direct ancestors. • Both male and female are known to be 120-170cm tall.Their weight was unknown. • The Australopithecus’ skull was similar to that of an ape because of the protruding eyebrow ridge, flat nose, and jutting jaw.
Shelters • The Australopithecus did not have shelters that they created. • They lived outside and followed their food, migrating to follow their prey.
Food They Ate • This tribe has been found to eat insects,plants, berries, leaves, fruit, and roots. • To get these typical things they used branches and stones as tools.
Tools • Scientists do not believe that Australopithecus made tools, but they may have used were branches, sticks, and stones to kill their prey.
Fire • The Australopithecus tribe had not discovered how to make fire.
Religion and Ceremonies • Religions and Ceremonies were not part of the Australopithecus tribe.
Languages • This group communicated by mouth and words and gestures. • There was no formal language and they did not have specific words for specific things.
Clothing • We do not know whether or not the Australopithecus wore clothing. • If they did, they most likely draped animal skins over their bodies like blankets.
Paintings and Carvings • The Australopithecus group did not do any painting or carving because they were focused mainly on survival. • They had a very hard life.
