Concepts • Learning Outcome (LOs) established by faculty panels that were based on recognized industry standards such as credentialing and licensing examinations • Career-Technical Assurance Guide (CTAG), which provides • An overview of equivalent content & learning outcomes • Guidance to students and institutions • Career-Technical Articulation Number (CTAN), which consists of • Outcomes representing the knowledge and skills needed in technical areas to transition from CTAE to public higher education October, 2008

Tools • CEMS is a web-based tool that supports course/program submission, review and posting of equivalent courses/programs. • Reporting System is a searchable web-based resource that shows students, faculty, registrars, counselors, and others the state-wide equivalent courses/programs for CT2.   18. Entering Courses Into the CEMS—Ohio Database • Begin by logging in to CEMS • https://atc.regents.ohio.gov/CEMS • Enter your user name • Enter you password Note that there is also a “practice” site: https://uat.regents.state.oh.us/CEMS User Name Password

  19. Entering Courses Into the CEMS—Ohio Database (continued) • This is a two step process • Create an inventory of your courses • Match the inventory you create to the appropriate CTANs • As your school’s CTAG coordinator, you will wear two hats: • Faculty • Coordinator

Entering Courses Into the CEMS—Ohio Database (continued) • Start the Process as a Faculty • The two steps listed above are done as a “Faculty” • Once you submit your courses as a “Faculty” the submission comes right back to YOU as Coordinator. • As Coordinator, you can review the submission then approve it and submit it to the OBR.

  27. Review before you Submit Once again, prepare a syllabus prior to initiating this process. On this page you can review your work prior to submitting.

  34. Now the Work Begins! Describe how your course meets the learning outcomes. This is the tough part. See handouts for examples.

Entering Courses Into the CEMS—Ohio Database (continued) • The steps described above are performed as a “Faculty”. • After entering Learning Outcomes, press Submit. • The course comes to YOU as Coordinator. • As Coordinator, review the course. • If all is OK, submit to OBR or return to Faculty for further details.

  36. Course Creation Process Complete! • If you follow these steps, you will have entered your courses into the CEMS database. • Once the courses are submitted to OBR, a CTAG staff member reviews the material. If complete, it is forwarded to Validation Center Coordinator-VCC (Rob Speckert is VCC for Engineering Technology)

  37. Course Approval Process • Validation Center Coordinator reviews course to make sure all sections are complete. • Special attention is paid to the learning outcomes. (Please describe how the course addresses each learning outcome.) • If all looks good, the course is forwarded to review panel. This is a panel of faculty. • If approved by panel, VCC sends to OBR for publication. • If not approved, it is returned to campus coordinator with explanation of what is needed.
