JOAN OF ARC • Maid of Orleans • Folk heroine of France And a Roman Catholic Saint • Born a peasant in North-east France in 1412 • Claimed to hear God’s voice and be guided by God’s will • Lead the French army to many victories • Captured by the Burgundians and sent to the English, Put on Trial by Pro-English Bishop Beauvais • Burned at the stake when she was 19 years old. • 25 years later the inquisitorial court examined the trial and found her innocent. • She was declared a martyr.
