  3. Current, proof-of-concept site The current site is a proof-of-concept for: Shelter Library Shelter Training In 2007, Shelter Centre’s online services received over20,000 hits, from 171 countries

Information on previous and upcoming Shelter Meetings 6. locate members of the Shelter Community 3. Upcoming events relevant to the sector 5. Most popular resources in Shelter Library 4. Latest project updates from the sector

Latest sector news relevant to you News will search all appropriate news sources for news belonging to the humanitarian shelter sector News is combined and filtered for shelter from sources including: • AlertNet • BBC • IRIN • ReliefWeb • LogCluster.org Select a country to filter news related to the country

Events calendar • Events is a calendar of all events relevant to the sector, such as: • regional trainings, such as the event at the Auroville Earth Institute, Pondicherry, India • sector meetings, such as IASC cluster meetings, UK shelter forum and the Shelter Meeting • project review meetings, such as the review process for the timber guidelines

Projects listing for the sector • Sign up to review or receive updates on sector projects, such as: • peer review meetings such as the Field Edition of Transitional Settlement and Reconstruction After Natural Disasters (UN, 2008) and • the guidelines on asbestos removal, under development by ProAct • Also, propose new projects and identify collaborators and support

Shelter Community • Shelter Centre undertook user surveys to determine the sector’s requirements • You wanted a service that allows you to: • locate other shelter specialists near you • find jobs • find shelter specialists Shelter Centre has unified all these requirements, and named it Shelter Community

  15. 1. locate other shelter specialists If the user wants, the system will automatically place the user on a map This will allow other users to know where you are, if you let them, and you can identify users near you This also means you can see news and information relevant to your country or region

  16. 2. find jobs As part of Shelter Community, the Register will allow users to post details such as experience and availability This means the sectorknows who is availablewhere in preparing a response All that is required is to fill out your details through the online registration form

  17. 3. find shelter specialists Similarly, employers can post jobs relevant to the sector, or search the Register of users to find suitable candidates for their needs
