  1. Why Care? By: Leadership Seniors

  2. English • We need English because practicing writing in high school will help you do better in college. • By the end of your senior year, you will be really good at writing papers, no matter where you started out your freshman year. • The vocabulary you learn will expand your opportunities in and out of school. • Your reading and writing skills will improve due to the books you read.

  3. Science • Science classes can help you sound smarter! • You get to dissect a cat, a pig, a frog, owl pellets, etc, which is really awesome! • You get to play with stuff that can kill you…. • Scientist change the world and make lots of money! • Ever wonder about space? You get to see things you would never thought about! • Learn about the earth you live on!

  4. Social Studies • Learn about the art of WAR! • People that changed the world. • Some of the scariest people in the world! • What revolutionized the country we live on! • Don’t make the mistakes of the past! • Be a Governor! A dictator! The President! • Why did countries hate each other!

  5. Math • Get better with numbers! • Keep control of your personal finances. • Show off your calculating skills! • Need a job? Math will get you one! • Helps you get higher score in the SAT/ACT! • You need it to live a smart collective life! • Prove your parents, friends, and even teachers your math skills!

  6. Foreign Languages • Foreign Languages help you communicate outside of school because so many people now speak languages besides English. • Speaking other languages further your chance of getting a job.

  7. Arts • Includes: Drama, Ceramics, Art, Orchestra, Band, Chorus • They widen your horizon of friends and the people you hang out with. • Get creative! You can learn a new hobby. • You go on field trips, which is always fun.

  8. Gym • This includes: Health/P.E., Team Sports, Weightlifting, Personal Fitness • Exercising is always good for you. • Helps you stay in shape. • If you have so much energy, this class can help you get rid of that energy. • It is a class that is easy to pass and can help bring your GPA up.

  9. CTE Classes • This includes: Computer classes, Woodshop, Drafting, Business classes, Parenting, Foods, Allied Health, Gaming • Taking these classes can help you get a permit which can help you later on in life. • You sometimes can get college credits for these classes. • These classes help you gain skills that you will need further in life.

  10. Sports! • Sports are a big part of high school. • Even if you don’t play a sport its still always fun to go to a sporting event and cheer your student body on. • Its always fun when you beat your rival school in a big sporting event, like Hoggard, Laney and New Hanover. • Getting involved with sports can help you meet new people which could end up being some of your closest friends later on in life.

  11. Clubs • There are SO many clubs at Ashley High School. • Joining a club in high school is something a lot of colleges like to see. • You can meet so many new people and make new friends.
