  1. A Translation of Misunderstanding Aspects Julia Lityuha Pm-31

  2. A text interpretation is a complex activity that involves the perception and understanding of the text and its components, as well as the display of the certain results of this process, the analysis and evaluation of their content. The possibility of different interpretations of the same text makes a prerequisite for the development of verbal creativity in the interpretation process. However, some interpretation may lead to misunderstandings. Click to add title in here

  3. The break of spiritual and linguistic connection between the speaker and the listener occurs under misunderstanding. - You missed school yesterday.- No, not at all. I had a good time.

  4. The effect of non-verbal communicative components on the interpretationexplains by the dual nature of non-verbal communicative components. On the one hand, the non-verbal components of communication are able to remove the ambiguity of verbal expression, on the other hand they are polyfunctional and require special knowledge for their interpretation. Because of this, they may ensure the effectiveness of communication but also may mislead. Click to add title in here

  5. A misunderstanding on the background of English communication inherents the discursive and cognitive features. However, their main feature is cognitive dissonance – an internal conflict of dialogic interaction participant, that is caused by the lack, contradictions and inadequacy of the interpreted information. 6. The social and cultural values of a society, customs, traditions, beliefs effect the non-verbal behavior. Because of this some areas appear, that are typical only for a certain nationality and require the additional knowledge and skills to decode the nonverbal communicative ethnospecific components. An inadequate interpretation of non-verbal components of communication leads to the communicative failures in monocultural communication. Click to add title in here

  7. The nonverbal communication components can be generic or ethnospecific. The range of cultural linguistics interests is quite wide today. Culture linguistic theory compares abstract units, so-called "culturemes" that manifest themselves in different cultures, with different frequency, in different communicative situations.

  8. For example, the easiest way to refuse nonverbally is a sharp movement with the hand. A clenched fist can signal a ban. In many European countries a gesture of a turned down hand, that describes the motion from left to right at the throat, indicates an unwillingness to continue the communication. The negative emotional reactions of nervousness and fear are expressed by hands. For instance: Avice Crichton was dabbing her palms nervously with a handkerchief: “Pleased to meet you Mrs. Lambert. It’ s kind of you to call on me.

  9. The easiest way to deny, using not language tools but head or body motility, is to shake a head. “Are you OK?” “No”, she said shaking her head. But one runs the danger nodding in confirmation to his Greek or Bulgarian mate, since Greeks and Bulgarians interpret a nod as a denial. Therefore, an intercultural communication remains a history of misunderstanding.

  10. The following example illustrates the importance of sign behavior in the Irish system of communication, the ignoring of which can have negative effects: She didn’t like the system in Ireland at all. They’d grab your hand and slap down on it so sharp it hurt, and that meant you might have bought yourself a horse…

  11. The significant role of the interpreter is the derivation of implicit information that is essential side of the discursive value. An ineffective implementation of interpretational operations provokes an incomplete mental representation of communicative messages with incorrect representation of discourse that explains the essence of cognitive misunderstanding.

  12. Sometimes even the most perfect knowledge of a foreign language does not allow its informant to adapt fully to the language environment, since he does not have the skills of nonverbal communication. And vice versa, a skillful use of nonverbal communication elements can provide a high-quality cross-cultural communication and avoid misunderstanding.
