Internet shopping launched 1995 PCs available in the shops Social networking emerged First dial up internet available Google launched Email invented 1998 2004 1977 1990 1971 1977 2007 1996 2001 1991 First PC modem Mobile internet access available Hotmail launched Wikipedia launched First webcam available Business associates don’t just keep in touch on the telephone, or when they see each other at meetings Laptops, smartphones and tablets make business-on-the-go a reality We don’t need to be in the same building as our colleagues to meet with them We don’t even need to be in the same building as our computer to check our emails Internet shopping and online business transactions take seconds Conference calls and webcams make some travel unnecessary Google and Wikipedia are popular places to start research We don’t need to be present in the shop to pay for goods or services We don’t need to refer to an encyclopaedia to find facts We use a word processor and send it by email They keep in touch through social networking Instead of hand writing a letter
