Clarkson Campus David Whitman
Goal • Downloadable program for prospective students and their relatives. • Run around and explore Clarkson’s campus – virtually.
Technology • Using CryEngine 3, which was used for Crysis 2 and is developed by Crytek. • Free to use for academic purposes.
Progress • Stitched together and applied Google Maps screenshots as a map texture. • Imported buildings, currently without textures. • Heightmap mostly done (changing terrain topography).
Difficulties • Scale is very difficult to get right. • CryEngine does not come with any assets. • Will have to balance amount of assets on screen to achieve playable framerate. • Must consider that not all high schoolers have gaming computers.
