  5. Plant Adaptations • The height helps because they are also close to the sun to use photosynthesis • Another one of their adaptations is soaking up the nutrients This is a picture of a Guelder

  6. Precipitation • The average amount of precipitation is 75 cm- 150 cm. per year. • The types of precipitation are rain, snow, hail and freezing rain. The picture on the left shows about the average temperature for the Deciduous Forest.

  7. Precipitation • The seasonal precipitation differences include: Winter- snow/ freezing rain Spring- rain Summer- rain/ hail Fall- rain/ freezing rain The picture on the right shows snow in the Deciduous Forest.

  8. Climate • Temperatures range from -30 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius. • The average temperature is 10 degrees Celsius. • Each of the 4 seasons are 130- 200 days long.

  9. Climate (cont.) • Due to climate changes, leaves fall off trees and change colors in the Fall. Then they grow back in the Spring. The days shorten in the fall. (This is a picture of trees in the Deciduous Forest. You can see how the color of the leaves are changed)

  11. Animal Adaptations • One animal adaptation is there fur changes in the summer and winter to help them blend in. • Another adaptation is that most animals going into a stage called hibernation witch is like a deep sleep. This is an American black bear

  12. Land/ Agricultural Uses • The deciduous forest is used for mostly farming and housing. • The soil is very fertile and is often enriched with falling leaves, dead organisms, and twigs. (A Deciduous forest in Dysart Woods , Ohio)

  13. Land/ Agricultural Uses • Some crops that are grown in the Deciduous Forest are corn, soy bean, wheat, pumpkins, green beans, and potato. A Deciduous forest located in Dysart Woods, Ohio.

  14. Environmental Concerns • People are killing a lot of animals by building homes. • As human population increase it causes deforestation , pollution , and industrial usage problems to this biome. (This deciduous forest would be wiped out by deforestation)
