PROGRAM BACKGROUND • Introduced in 2010 to the year 4 & 5 age groups • In 2011 implemented throughout all modified age groups • Strategy to maintain umpires with in the district • To provide mentoring to 1st and 2nd year umpires to assist their development • To provide support to umpires in the football environment.

  4. PARENT MENTOR UMPIRE PROGRAM Objective: • To provide support to umpires and make them feel comfortable • Provide feedback to umpires to assist their development • Engage more parents in the role of the umpire • Assist in the retention of umpires

  5. PARENT MENTOR UMPIRE PROGRAM The program: • All modified age groups year 4 to 7. • Each team will nominate a parent mentor for the year • The home team will supply the mentor for the game • Parent Mentor will have a bib to be recognized • Parent Mentor only allowed on ground during intervals • Provide feedback at ¼, ½, ¾ breaks • Approaches Team manager any issues with any parents etc.
