  2. The purpose of this presentation is to provide a status report on all actions, activities and interventions that have taken place since June 2006 to date. The last progress report was presented at the National Consultative Workshop, held in May 2006. Introduction Centres of Excellence demonstrate world class management and administration

Simplified tools to assist with the monitoring processes in CoE The purpose of monitoring being: To report progress on implementation To identify areas that need support To benchmark good practices for roll-out Purpose of Matrixes Centres of Excellence demonstrate world class management and administration

Matrixes were circulated to all Regional Commissioners for comments by 27 July Regional responses from 2 Regions viz Free State/Northern Cape and Western Cape HO responses from Development & Care; Corrections; Policy and Research Coordination Responses were consolidated Purpose of Matrixes Centres of Excellence demonstrate world class management and administration

Copies of all Regional Operational Plans requested Copies of Branch Operational plans requested Departmental Strategic Plan 2006/7 used as baseline Draft Integrated Project Plan circulated to CDC’s Integrated Project Plan Centres of Excellence demonstrate world class management and administration

  14. Risk Management Plans requested from branches and regions in order to draft a CoE Integrated Risk Management Plan Integrated Risk Management Plan Centres of Excellence demonstrate world class management and administration

  15. Work study initiated process to formalize structure. Two DD posts to be filled- contract Location of Directorate in the office of the DC: Compliance and Management Support (EMC announcement) CoE National Structure Centres of Excellence demonstrate world class management and administration

  16. Finalization of Integrated Project Plan Timeframe: 1 Sept 06.. For discussion at National CoE Steering Committee Meeting Finalization of Integrated Risk Management Plan: Time frame: 15 September 06 Finalization of matrixes: Time frame: 30 August Way forward Centres of Excellence demonstrate world class management and administration

Training on matrixes: Process to be finalized during National CoE Steering Committee Meeting Visits to selected CoE’s, including Blueprint CoE’s, to monitor progress on implementation: Time frame Aug- Oct 06 28 Aug: Ebongweni – Kokstad 29 Aug: Durban Female and Youth 30 Aug: Pietermaritzburg 5,6,7 Sept: Goedemoed Way forward Centres of Excellence demonstrate world class management and administration
