  3. Vacation Challenge 1: About the Cruise Details About the Cruise: 7-night – Alaska (Seattle Roundtrip) Departure Dates: June 5, 12, 19, 26. They are going on the cruise on June 5, 2009. Cruise Line: Royal Caribbean Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas The benefits of the cruise is that it didn’t cost that much and the rooms were non-smoking. Prices They are staying in an ocean view rooms. $799 X 4 = $3,196 for rooms. Airfare: Total cost for the airfare is $1586.00. The family lives in New York City and they are taking a flight to Seattle, Washington. When the cruise is over, the family takes another plane back to New York City.

  5. Itinerary Day 1 June 5, 2009: 2:50 pm: Family arrives at Seattle, Washington. 4:00 pm: Ship departs from Seattle, Washington. Day 2 June 6, 2009: Ship is at sea. Day 3 June 7, 2009: 11:00 am: Ship arrives at Juneau, Alaska. 12:00 pm: 64-year old wife and 12 year old granddaughter goes to the spa at The Bell House Day Spa & Tea Room at 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm. The price for that is $150.00. 3:00 pm: 64 year old wife goes to the Juneau Lyric Opera to see a theatrical show called “Mozart’s Missa Solemnis.” Her granddaughter goes with her. The show is from 3:00 to 4:45 pm. The cost for this show is $50.00. 5:00 pm: 64-year old wife and her granddaughter go to shopping at the Nugget Mall in Juneau, Alaska. She shops for clothing, food and more things there. She shops from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The cost of her shopping spree is $150.00. 7:15 pm: Wife goes back to the ship to spend some time with her family until the ship leaves. (The grandson was in the pool while the husband was watching a movie.) 8:00 pm: Ship departs from Juneau, Alaska.
  6. Itinerary Continued Day 4 June 8, 2009: 7:00 am: Ship arrives at Skagway, Alaska 7:15 am: 68-year old husband goes to a native show called The Days of ‘98 Show with his grandson. The show is from 7:15 am to 8:15 am. The show has live music. Entry fee is $10.00 per person. 8:20 am: 68-year old husband goes fishing with his grandson at a place called Fat Salmon. They fish for 4 hours. The cost for 4 hours of fishing is $145.00 per person. 11:30 am: Grandson and his grandpa go back to the ship to go out to lunch with their family. (The wife and granddaughter were watching a movie on the ship.) They go the Starfire Restaurant. The spend one hour and thirty minutes there. The cost for lunch there is $30.00. 1:00 pm: The family goes to the Corrington Museum of Alaskan History to learn about the history of Alaska. Entry fee is $10.00 per person. They spend two hours there. 3:00 pm: Family goes on a whale watching adventure on their ship. The cost per person is $121.00. They spend 3 hours whale watching. 6:30 pm: Family goes to the Starfire restaurant for dinner. Dinner costs $32.00. 8:00 pm: Family goes back to the ship and spend some time together. 8:30 pm: ship departs from Skagway, Alaska
  7. Itinerary Continued Day 5 June 9, 2009: 7:00 am: Ship arrives at Tracey Arm Fjord, Alaska 7:30 am: After eating breakfast on the ship, the family goes on the Tracy Arm Fjord Glacier Cruise. Prices for adults are $147.89 and $102.52 for children. They spend four hours on the cruise. 11:30 am: Family goes back to the ship and waits for the ship to leave the port. 12:00 pm: Ship departures from Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska. Day 6 June 10, 2009: Ship is at sea. While the ship is at sea, everyone is in the spa, in the game room, in the movie theater, in the pool or on the internet. Day 7 June 11, 2009: 9:00 am: Ship arrives at Victoria, Canada. 9:30 am: Family goes skiing at Mount. Hotham. It costs $32 per person to go there. They spend 4 hours there. 2:00 pm: Family visits Hatley National Park. It costs $10 per person to go there. They spend 2 hours in the park.

Itinerary Continued 4:00 pm: Go to Café Brio and eat supper for a hour and a half for $60 per person. 5:30 pm: Leave Café Brio to go back to the cruise. 6:00 pm: Cruise leaves port from Victoria, Canada. Day 8 June 12, 2009 6:00 am: Arrive at Seattle, Washington. 7:45 am: Family takes a plane back to New York City.

  11. Why We Chose This Cruise We chose this vacation package because it covers most of the needs and wants of the family. This cruise has a good price for the family’s budget. We had enough money left to plan the activities. The cruise also had a good time limit for the family. They wanted a 7-10 day cruise. The End!
