  3. Vocabulary • Radius of a Regular Polygon • Apothem

  4. Radius • The radius of a polygon is the distance from the center to a vertex.

  5. Apothem • The apothem is the perpendicular distance from the center to a side.

  6. Theorem 10-6:“Area of a Regular Polygon” • The area of a regular polygon is half the product of the apothem and the perimeter.

  7. Finding the Area of a Regular Polygon • Find the area of the regular polygon: 12 11

  8. Find the Area of a Regular Polygon • Find the area of a regular nonagon with 6 cm sides and a 4 cm apothem.
