Year-to-date Standards Education Speakers Bureau Update Completed Engagements to Date – 3 DeVry U $ 531 U of Illinois 0 Region 10 Congress – Auckland , NZ 1207 Pending Engagements - 4 Africon (already SEC approved) 4430 to date Advanced Energy Conference (seeking SEC approval) Not to exceed 2000 Sonoma State U (seeking SEC approval) Minimal expenses. Denmark Technological U (seeking SEC approval) 2000 Total dollars spent $10168 Available balance $ 3832

  3. Pending Speaking Engagements • Advanced Energy Conference, Buffalo, NY • Tom Prevost is scheduled to speak at the Advanced Energy Conference in Buffalo on 13 October. • Request from Charles Rubenstein, R1 Director • His topic will be Smart Grid Development in the United States. • Sonoma State University • Wael Diab has volunteered to speak at Sonoma State University on IEEE Standards and Standards Education. • Denmark Technological University, Copenhagen • As part of a one-day seminar to take place in late October at the Denmark Technological University, the speaking engagement will be one hour and will address Smart Grid standards and Standards Education. • The event is jointly organized by the Denmark section and the • IEEE Power and Energy Society chapter.

  4. Looking for Another Engagement • By October, we will have met our goal for the number of speaking engagements for 2011. • We can exceed it because of successful use of resources. • Help us find another engagement for 2011. • Contact Rona at r.gertz@ieee.org with details!

Speakers/Presentations • Speakers • Looking for help in expanding list of speakers to ensure good coverage of technical and geographic areas. • Current list will be distributed to SEC; we ask for your feedback by end of September. • Presentations • There is an archive of Standards Education presentations on the SEC web page. • Developing a plan to improve the functionality, provide more information to presenters looking to use them. • Please share any ideas you have with Rona Gertz!

  6. Motions • Move to approve Tom Prevost as a speaker for the IEEE Standards Education Speakers Bureau at the Advanced Energy Conference, in Buffalo, NY, in October 2011. Expenses not to exceed $2000. • Move to approve Wael Diab as a speaker for the IEEE Standards Education Speakers Bureau at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, CA, in autumn 2011. Expenses minimal. • Move to approve the speaking engagement in Denmark Technological University in October 2011. Expenses anticipated at $2000. Speaker to be determined.
