Disciplines Offered • Archery • Compound, Recurve, Barebow • F.I.T.A., Field, 3D, Clout, Wand • Hunting & Wildlife • Wildlife Identification & Management, Hunting Skills & Safety, Outdoor Skills, Live Fire (all firearms) • Muzzleloading • Rifle, pistol, cap and ball pistol • Paper targets and silhouettes • Pistol • Air, smallbore, centerfire, .45 (senior level only) • Paper targets and silhouettes • Slow, timed, & rapid fire • Rifle • BB gun, air, smallbore, high power sporter & military • Paper targets and silhouette • 3 position, CMP, light rifle, running target • Shotgun • Trap (American & International), skeet (American & International, 5 stand, and sporting clays

Coach Training Opportunities • Discipline certifications: archery, coordinator, muzzleloading, pistol, rifle, and shotgun • Two day classes that prepare coaches for working with their local clubs • basics of and history of 4-H • risk management procedures • range safety and regulations • proper practices for coaching youth audiences • discipline specific aspects of shooting sports • Registration on 4-H Connect • Counties must certify participants • Good way to maintain list of certified coaches in your county! • Youth Assistants - age 14 by September 1 of the current 4-H year • Accompanied by an adult leader who will serve as their sponsor at the training • Parent or guardian must fill out the Youth Assistant Acknowledgement form that can be found on the website • Cost • $110 – participants who do not own Shooting Sports Guide and will receive one at training • $88 – participants who own Shooting Sports Guide and will bring their own (typically a returning coach for additional certification) • FREE – County Extension Agents

Postal Leagues • Events are shot at the local level and either scores or targets are submitted to the State Office for compilation, tabulation, and awards structuring • Registration on 4-H Connect • Events include: • 3-P smallbore rifle, air pistol, archery, BB gun, light rifle, precision air rifle, sporter air, and trap and skeet (spring/summer)

Extravaganza - April, Texas 4-H Center • Open match for beginning shooters requiring only basic knowledge of safety, rules and format • Emphasis is on fun and exploring new shooting activities • Not intended to be a match for our top level shooters, but an introduction to competitive shooting for beginners • Advanced shooters are encouraged to participate as coaches or mentors for younger, less experienced shooters • Participants have opportunity to stay on site at Texas 4-H Center

  12. Indoor Archery Matches • Two locations • Graham • Bay City • Scores from two locations are compiled for high overall awards. • 18 meter indoor • Recurve • Compound

  13. Roundup Indoor Rifle Match • State Roundup contest • Held during week of State Roundup • Must qualify on District level as team or individual (1st-3rd places) • 3-position smallbore rifle • 2 day event • Second day features a high individual shoot off round • High individuals/teams are recognized at Roundup Assembly

  14. State Games – July, San Antonio • Week long competition at the National Shooting Complex • All disciplines represented in various games and events (approximately 40) • Close to 1,000 4-H participants currently • No qualifications except experience in and knowledge of the disciplines registered • Volunteer ran – Any volunteers?

National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational/Texas Team • Rotates every two years to a new host state • 9 teams of 4 participants represent Texas at the annual Invitational • Team members selected by discipline sub-committees within Texas 4-H Shooting Sports Training Team • Applications due annually in August
