Herpes simplex is more common in women than in men in the United States and affects about one out of every five women within the US. However, men are not vulnerable to herpes and are affected at a ratio of one to nine with one man being affected for every nine. Males are also more likely to transmit the disease onto his female partner than a female is to her male partner.
Normal host/Natural Reservoir
No one actually dies from herpes itself but the complications it can cause (such as pneumonia and meningitis) can be fatal and kill people.
