THE AIMS AND GOALS OF STEWARTVILLE SCHOOLS Aim #1 HIGH STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT *Goal 1: Ensure that students will meet or exceed high academic standards. *Goal 2: Integrate technology throughout the district and increase the effective use of technology in the district as a teaching and learning tool. Goal 3: Value parent (s) and/or guardian (s) as active partners in student learning. Aim #2 A SAFE, WELCOMING, ENGAGING LEARNING ENVIRONMENT Goal 4: Create and maintain safe and welcoming schools. *Goal 5: Create and maintain engaging learning environments. Aim #3 EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT OPERATIONS Goal 6: Maintain responsible and accountable management and support of resources/operations. Goal 7: Integrate the continuous improvement philosophy and process throughout the system.

HIGH SCHOOLMENTORSHIP COURSE • Summer mentorship opportunity for high-performing students entering their senior year of high school • Independent, challenging, non-paid study for students interested in a potential career focusing on mathematics, science, technology, and/or the healthcare industry • Joint partnership with Mayo Clinic 2010/first year: one student 2011/second year: 4 students 2012/third year: 7 students

  14. Chrissy Mayo Clinic Pathology Lab Renal Artery Stenosis Surgical Research Leah St. Mary’s Anesthesia Research Lab Testing fetal tissues/cells to determine pre-natal oxygen exposure.

Algebra Readiness Testing Orleans-Hanna Algebra Readiness Testing • Assessment is designed to predict students’ readiness for algebra courses • Will be used with current 5th grade students (scoring in the 60th percentile or higher on most recent NWEA math test) in May 2012 • Will be used with other data to determine most appropriate math class placement for students entering middle school

PLATO PROGRAM • Alternative Learning Opportunities Credit recovery for at-risk students Distance learning • Rigorous Instructional Content Alignment with National/State Standards Technology driven course content, coupled with off-line web-based activities • Common Circumstances for Use Remediation & Intervention programs Credit Recovery programs Summer School programs

  17. AP CHEMISTRYADVANCED CHEMISTRY ON-LINEBLENDED • Equivalent to general chemistry Year – 1 college course • Blend of traditional classroom experience and an on-line course.

  18. 1:1 Laptop Initiative Central Intermediate School • 1040 Student Netbooks • Grade Levels Included – 4th – 10th Grade • Kindergarten – 28 Ipads (4 per classroom)

Goal: Support classroom teachers with on-going professional development to integrate technology into our classrooms in a consistent, aligned and streamlined manner. **5 part-time classroom teachers serving as Technology Integration Specialists (TIS) – work with teachers to answer questions, offer teacher training, and team teaching.
