  1. Summary Session 4 – Quench Detection R. Denz, D. E. Rasmussen

  2. Part 1: Jens and the “impressive” list … Firmware upgrades by EP section, concerning QPS supervision Firmware upgrades quench detection R2E mandatory for re-start Upgrades for enhanced diagnostics

  3. The list continued … • List represents a major challenge with respect to hardware upgrades with limited contingency • Possible bottleneck can be the production especially the assembly of circuit boards • Major parts of electronic components ordered and partially delivered • Some activities are not mandatory to re-start (DQAMS600, DQGPU type A,B …) • Some activities like the potential CSCM upgrade are not yet specified • Firmware upgrades are well under control as EP internal • Strong recommendation to treat nQPS (DQLPU type S) part separately • Avoids to install racks DYPB in specific position • Allows flexibility with respect to an eventual CSCM upgrade • Standard transport and intermediate storage represent a non-negligible risk for the sophisticated DQLPU type S

  4. Part 2: Arek, software development for QPS regarding LS1 • The upgrade of the QPS will bring many new features requiring high level software tools to make the best use out of it. • Concerns as well a long list of activities: • Configuration database • CSCM data analysis • Enhanced quench heater supervision analysis tools • Power cycle tools • EE maintenance service • … • Necessary resources clearly identified (within SCRUM framework) • First applications already available, e.g. power cycle tools

  5. Numbers and resources 0 • 134story points with 16 Before LS1 • 50story points with 10 Before LS1 A. Gorzawski, TE-MPE LS1 preparation workshop • Total team work capacity: ~350 StPuntil end of LS1(Shared between 9 projects) • QPS & Systems Management: • 184 StP required • ~ 52% of budget
