  3. Wielkopolska Region in figures : • One of the largest regions in Poland • Poznań – rich industrial, cultural, historical and international fair center • Surface - 29.825km² ( 2nd in Poland ) • Population – 3,5 millions inhabitants ( 3rd in Poland ) www.umww.pl.

According to State Agency for Prevention of Alcohol Related Problems official analyses the biggest challenge in our region concerning alcohol is: • Traffic Education about the harm done by alcohol tothe public • Drinking habits among young people In these tasks we closely cooperate with Police

  6. Due to Act (26th Oct.1982) ”About upbringing in abstinence and prevention of alcoholism” Marshall Office is obliged to : • initiate of all activities concerned with alcohol access limiting and consumption decrease • initiate and create good social activities for healthy, abstinent lifestyle • cooperate with church, religious communities, organizations, foundations and all NGO’s with alcohol prevention

Programme of solving alcohol problems is carried out as the Regional Program for Prevention and Solving Alcohol Problems 2006-2010 which creates public policy in particular tasks : • educational functions • alcohol availability limitation and control • medical care, rehabilitation and reintegration of alcohol addicted people • prevention of alcohol-related harm • family violence prevention

  8. And also duties as: • medical care and prevention of alcohol-related harm • professional prophylaxy and adult education • epidemiological monitoring and evaluation

According to Main Act ”About Public Benefit and Voluntary Services (24 Apr.2003)”: • Cooperation with NGO’s is formulated to choose the best in official transparent tender ( public invitation for tenders, tender commission, transparent procedures available in official websites etc.) • NGO’s are generally best prepared and specialized in educational and social programmes • Main criteria for social programmes: vast offer, professional, high educated and experienced staff

Our experiences with NGO’s Most interesting programmes : • XX National Open Autumn Abstinent ”Maple Leaf” Cross Country Race - Union of Abstinence Associations- Poznań - ( 1000 contestants ) • Summer holiday with elements of sociotherapeutical classes for children from poor families with alcohol and violence problems – St.Wojciech Roman - Catholic Parish in Kobierno. • XIII Young Bicycle Rally around Wielkopolska with psychological workshops – ( 50 teenagers) - Catholic Abstinence Association ”DOM”( Home ) in Kępno • Integrational holiday campus for children and families with alcohol and violence problems – Polish Scouts Command ( ZHP ) district Kalisz – ( 50 teenagers )

Our experiences with NGO’s Most interesting programmes : • Safe and Joyful Holiday in Mountains –sociotherapeutical holiday for children with victim and disadvantage syndroms in Tatra Mountains- Association ”Abstinence” Konin ( 90 children ) • Summer holidays with horses ,hipotherapy, sociotherapeutical classes for children from families with alcohol and violence problems – Hipodrom ”Wola” Poznań – ( 50 teenagers ) • 24 hours Critical Intervention Center for Lone Mother with Children – Help Foundation for Lone Mother ”Pro Vita” Rogoźno

Our expectations of the work in the AER on prevention of Alcohol related harm: - To exchange experience, good practice and know-how on regional policies in this area and how they are implemented. - To develop and implement effective and efficient regional policies to prevent alcohol-related harm - Toraise awareness among regions about the potential harm resulting from alcohol to individuals and society as a whole. - To cooperate with new ,promising and interesting projects as „Youth perspective”
