Project Overview • Background • In 2002, Ames Metropolitan Area Designated as a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) • Ames Area MPO includes: • City of Ames • Boone County • Story County • Iowa State University • CyRide • Federal Transit Administration • Federal Highway Administration • Iowa Department of Transportation

  6. Project Overview • Background • MPO Communities/Agencies are Required to Cooperate and Coordinate Efforts • MPOs Required to Develop Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) • First Ames Area LRTP Finalized in October 2005
