  3. What is LAB ? LAB is a project aiming at: • The teaching of foreign languages (English, German, French) in a communicative and collaborative learning environment • Using ICT in an open global digital network • Using the ’KISS’ principle 

  4. What’s in focus? • Communication rather than correctness • Stressing the importance of collaborative work across borders => more global than local • The learners own ’world’=> bringing in imagination, knowledge and experience also from outside school as a motivation factor • Learners being productive not only receptive

  5. Who is behind LAB? • Teachers from 5 schools in Denmark • Learners aged 7 to 17 • Researchers from DPU (The Danish University of Education – Media and Language) • Founded by ITMF(The Ministry of Education)

  6. Which activities take place? • Chain Stories(on-going: started October 2002) • Advent Calendar(only in December 2002) • Marketplace(on-going: started in January 2003) • Games: ’Hangman’ and ’LABardy’(on-going:started in February 2003) • ???? ..... New activities starting in May, August and October of 2003 – ideas?

  7. Who can participate? • ANYBODY and EVERYONE • You can always read what others have submitted • If you want to submit you have to become a user by writing name, username, school, country AND e-mail-address (censor-ship!)

  8. When can you participate? • You are not committed for a specific period • You can join in as classes, groups or individual learners regardless of age and level, time and place • You may use 1 or 10 lessons – it’s up to you • ANYTIME - You are always welcome 
